Arts and CraftsThe place to talk about stick figure avatars, graphic design, fan art, or any application of the visual arts and creative writing--or just to show off your latest masterwork!
Inspired by the excellent Bismarck and Franz Josef avatars previously used in the message board diplomacy game, I tried my hand at creating representatives for the other nations.
These two have already been shown in another thread.
Other leaders:
Queen Victoria and Napoleon III don't quite fit the timescale of the diplomacy game, but are more distinctive than their historically accurate counterparts.
More to follow - including updates to some of the ones I think need more work, such as Queen Vic, who needs redone as a properly sized gif - I would appreciate suggestions for a less silly pose for the Sultan.
Three things:
1. Nice Bismarck
2. This isn't supposed to have political discussions. (I have a feeling that's what this will become, but just incase this goes through anyway...)
3. This should be in the Silly Board Games, or whatever it's called, board.

1. Thanks, although he was meant to be Kaiser Wilhelm, because Bismarck had already been done by (I think) Amanodel.
2. I take your point. I'd only been thinking in the context of the diplomacy game, but I can see that having a historical leader as an avatar could be considered a political statement. I wonder if that's why Amanodel's are no longer used. I've removed the one that's most connected with a recognizable ideology.
3. Maybe. It's related to the PBPM Diplomacy games currently running in the Play by Post games forum
As the first person to create diplomacy avatars, I feel an urge to comment.
I did Kaiser Franz Joseph for myself, and Chancellor Bismarck for Nerdo.
It's no political discussion. If I remember correctly these rulers no longer have diplomatic affairs. That's why they are called history. Removing them for political reasons would be silly. (Please note that the pictured rulers usually stand in a good reputation, too.) Now, diplomacy is a really nice game, where you play the mentioned countries, and it's a nice touch if you have avatars representing your country. Sure I no longer use my Kaiser Franz avy, mostly because I think I didn't do a good work with it, and secondly, I have been defeated in my diplomacy games.
(Chancellor Bismarck is out-of-time, too, but nerdo asked for him instead of Kaiser Wilhelm.)
EM: Wilhelm rocks, and they guy next to him too! That would be the russian ruler?
I've now got a ruler of the correct government system for France, added George V to complete the set of 1914 rulers, and threw in Emile Loubet, the French president from 1901 as a bonus.
And I've had another idea - Flagatars! You could even combine a flagatar with a kingatar - and then mix and match to represent different countries in different games. Oh, oh, or I could try map-atars. That way you could represent three different countries, for maximum confusion!
