Post Re: SoD availability

I have obtained information regarding your interest in the availability of OOTS: Start of Darkness.

It is temporarily out of stock, but the book is being reprinted, and we expect it to be back in stock in early February.

An alternative to waiting is tht you can purchase a scratch and dent copy, which is available now. Please check out the Scratch and Dent section in the store at APE Games.com for more choices.

Post Re: Ordering Issues from APE Games

I apologize for the delay in getting an answer to you, but we are just returning from the holiday weekend here in the US.

The easiest way for me to investigate why you have not received your order is for you to email me with the name that was used to place the order. Other information (the order #, date of order, your address) may be helpful in determining what has happened.

I can look into things and have a reply (with what I know as I start the inquiry) to you within 24 hours of receiving the information about your order.

Please email me at the address below and provide your name as it appeared on the order.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this....

I pre-ordered War & XPs in late July, and was billed for it. Will it be shipping soon? (Along with my Elan magnet?)

Thanks,

Post Re: Ordering Issues from APE Games

War and XPs is still in pre-order status. The books and magnets are scheduled to arrive soon, so shipment of pre-orders will happen as soon as they are here in the warehouse at APE Games.

You can also watch for an announcement to be made on the APE Games home page or GITP once we receive the books and begin shipping. You will also receive an email showing the date your book ships.

I appreciate your wanting to stay informed, and if I can provide further assistance or information, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I just thought I'd mention: ordered from APE all five books currently available. I was a little nervous because of the problems I kept reading about.

No problems whatsoever. Books arrived last week, well-packaged, every book in pristine condition. And I ordered from Canada, so it did have to go through customs.

So, thanks to Giant and APE. Reading through them again now!

I ordered Start of Darkness on the tail end of your post hurricane power outage. I just received the book in pristine condition, as I did On the Origin of PCs last year. APE Games seems to have recovered quickly from the wrath of nature. Thank you very much.

Hi! I don't have an issue (yet) but I am kinda worried.
I placed order #17003 on the 21st of october and still didn't get the tracking number. This order is going to be a present to my friend and that's the reason why I am worried. Please could you tell me how long it is going to take you to handle the order to USPS guys?

Thanks!!!

I'm concerned on if I'll ever see my copy of War & XPs, I placed the order on August 1rst so I'm also looking forward to adding the magnet to my collection.

However I recieved a shipping notice on 8/30 with a tracking number link that when followed, the post office shows they never recieved this package.

Add the fact that ten e-mails later and still no responce from APE, and I'm more than a little concerned.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dear APE Games! I placed my order #16419 on 09/04/2008, get an e-mail with confirmation, and... That's all what I've got. USPS tracker says, that they are still waiting for this package. I've sent you 3 mails, but there was no reaction at all. Please, explain me, what the problem is?

Post Re: Ordering Issues from APE Games

oots-rus,
I wanted to let you know that we have filed an inquiry with USPS now that the time they require for lost packages has passed. (an email with that information was sent to you in October, but if you did not receive it let me know.)

I have also emailed you to let you know the current status of your order with us. If there are further questions, please do not hesitate to email me.

Is there a solid release date for the OOTS: The Shortening? ookoodook.com has it listed as June, but there isn't much June left.

The book hasn't arrived in the warehouse yet. We'll be at Origins for a week starting in just a couple hours, so it's not looking good for orders to get out before the end of June, even if they do arrive.

Sorry.

I have sent three e-mails over at ookoodook.com and have not heard a reply at all. I ordered Snips, and snails, and dragon tails and the shortening separately. The book was supposed to be out in May, the Shortening in June. The book was supposed to be a gift, it isn't anymore.
Well, when the book was pushed back, that screwed things up for me. I only placed them as separate orders to get the book in time for Mouse's birthday. I tried to contact the retailer to see about combining the shipping and refunding the difference. The site said I should hear back usually within 24 hours. No e-mail after the first. No reply after the second. Placed the third today.
I am so far, unimpressed with their sites customer service. I saw this thread, and at least there are some responses here, but as I can tell from other posters, ookoodook seems to have a problem answering their e-mails through their own website. Here's hoping.

If you scroll up slightly you'll see they're at Origins this week, so they likely won't be in the office to receive your email until Monday :)

This is probably the furthest thing from the truth I have ever read. Ookadook has some of the best customer service I have ever seen from a 1-person company :p

((Ok, so I have no idea how many people work there, but I know it isn't many!))

Origins notwithstanding, my e-mail went out before their post. A delay is a delay, and delays happen, it's true. That being said, if a company does not have a reliable way to interact with their customers, then their customer service is lacking, or in better words, sub-par. Perhaps they are forthcoming and personable when they deal with you, but so far, when complaining or seeking answers from their website the common thread seems to be of slow response time.

Are their products worthwhile? Yes, indubitably. I have all the OOTS books and the game. T-shirt wise, the screen printing is still not as good as other sites such as Think Geek, but I still wear them as they are my favorite gifts from my gaming group. I have never had a problem with the condition of my purchases, and have also received them promptly. These are all separate areas. The one I believe needs work would be their customer service.

Well, I received a reply, and as expected, as polite as they could be. They are willing to combine the order, but now the Shortening isn't expected to ship until sometime in August. Two months after it was said to ship. Sigh. Sadly, the website does not have this update posted...yet.

Thank you Kevin for getting in touch with me, I appreciate it.

I'll post replies here and on Ookoodook.com's homepage as I get more information.

It's true, we've been at Origins since Tuesday and have been working the booth all day and running events all night. That left us little time for email.

At this point all I can say is that you have patience. Yes, the book and the games are delayed from their original date and I apologize for that.

We got production sets of the OOTS games back and found that they weren't right. They're working to correct the issue and the games should leave the printer next week. That will put them in the U.S. sometime during the first week in August.

I learned an important lesson about pre-orders, and we'll probably not be doing them again anytime soon.
