I really like the banner though I have my own advertising to do so it probably won't stay for long...

Thumbs up Re: Folding@Home

I was looking for my computer to do something instead of idly sitting at night and displaying my Vista-tan wallpaper for my roommates to gawk at. Eldmor's on the Folding Train to Karmaville.

If you're running the Windows graphic version, you should be able to right-click on the FaH icon in the task bar (normally on the far right side at the bottom of the screen) and select "configure."

If you're running a console or Linux version, you might have to stop it and then run the program with the "-config" option to reconfigure things.

I have no idea what you need to do to get the configuration up if you're running on a PS3, GFX card, etc etc.

Why aren't my work units counting? I've contributed 3 so far, but I don't see my name on the list. My internet connection is always established, and the program is always running fine.

Do use the Graphic Client? If so, then double-click on the red Folding-Icon in the task bar. This will open a window with all kinds of stats, including the estimated time to finish the current Work Unit.
If you're using the Console Client, you can't see it directly (though you open the file named FAHlog where you can see how many of the total number of steps have been completed.

Are you sure you've inserted the proper Team Number (82447) in the configuration?

I see them. Check this link -- http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/m...&teamnum=82447

At the time I ran it, you had 3 WUs, 1012 points, and were #58 on the team list.

Looks like they track individuals for the top 1200 now. We're in!

Well... some of us are, anyway. My first WUs since we cracked the 1200 won't be done until late tonight or early tomorrow, so right now, I'm not listed there as an individual.

Blah, I entered the team info when I signed up, but apparently it didn't take, so my work so far has gone to the default team ; ;

How can I make sure I joined the right team? Under the config on my computer itself or on the site somewhere?

It's done on your computer.

If you're running the Windows GUI client, then in the bottom-right corner of your Windows screen, you should have the red "folding" icon. Right-click on it, and select the "configure" menu pick (it might be a sub-menu, but I don't think so).

Make sure you put in the right team, and save the changes.

You may have to quit your Folding session, and then restart it, in order to get the change to occur (for future work units that are completed).

hmm... That's weird, it is set for the 82447, but when I look up my profile on http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/...ame=kawaiineko it says I'm on the default profile. I've already restarted the session several times.

I don't think that the FaH website will know about your team number change until you complete a work unit under that team number.

As I understand it, when you configure your profile, it's just stored locally on your machine (in fact, if you run multiple instances of the FaH console, each one has its own configuration which could have different team numbers), and then sent up to the FaH site when the work unit is completed and results are sent.

Have you completed a WU since changing/setting your team number?

Sorry for being obnoxious/annoying, but does anyone know how long WUs are generally supposed to take? I think I've been folding for a week or so now, and I'm still not even half done with my first WU - I've done 465/1500. I just want to know if my computer is doing something wrong, if I'm not benifiting the team at all in this small rate, and if there's anything I can do to get some WUs done!

Thanks for the patients.

It really depends on your machine. You're not the only one who spoke of excruciatingly long work unit time. The only reason my times are incredibly short is because it's running on my PS3 when I'm not gaming on it (which, let's be honest, is pretty often ).
