These are his words, by the way.

You know. I really love this comic. Agamemnon was my favorite character in the Iliad. You really make him into the arrogant egocentric hero I like.

The god in the last panel was supposed to be Apollo...
I've never quite seen Agamemnon as a 'hero.' Arrogant and egocentric, definitely. I've cast Agamemnon as a bit of a jerk, and in a story where there aren't really any clear-cut 'villains,' Agamemnon is a not quite as pro-tagonist.

I know, I love how he isn't evil, but belongs to the good guys and still manages to create a large amount of trouble. For example the whole Iphigeneia bussiness.

That is great.

It must be a big coincidence, but today our Greek teacher told us we will start translating Homer next week.

EDIT:

FAN ART!!!!!

Menestheus, king of Athens

For those who do not know it, there is wikipedia: "In the Iliad he [Menestheus] was characterized as not valiant. When Agamemnon was reviewing his troops he found Menestheus in the back rows seemingly avoiding action."

Yay! I got my first fanart!
Just out of curiosity, who's the second guy?
The new comic is in the works. I'll hopefully have it up by friday afternoon, as my internet (and computer, for that matter) access is going to be questionable from there to tuesday. I do have a lot of free time from there until the following monday, including an extensive stint with my editor in person, so I should be able to make several comics during that time, and maybe even begin rebuilding my buffer.
EDIT: Fanart is now in first post.

Well Uncl Festy, love the comic so far. I even added a compliment about it in my webcomic http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71239

I hope you're happy though I had to take out my "Au Contraire Mon Capitane, He's Back!" Catchphrase out of my signature in order to put your comic's banner.

My editor had an idea for the comic. If anyone can guess where I got the gun from, they get... something cool. Silliad related, preferably. My thoughts were an avatar/sigtar/banner with Silliad characters, or a cameo in a comic or banner, or... whatever else anyone can think of.

Nice comic... Also that gun looks like it's from Askaris' and Onasuma's comic C2h5oh

You know, the one the black armored guy was holding

Space age armour and it gets pierced by one arrow. Burrrrrrrn.

I'd be putting your banner up in my sig, but im just not the type for it, though i gotta say the Silliad is top of the list as far as "web comic's I read here".

...It's not a plasma gun (i.e., Warhammer 40,000), is it?

Granted. But the fact that Apollo would have to cast plague on his arrows suggests that they're basic arrows.

Points. But it was shot with no more target than "the Achaian's(sp?)", which makes great archery pretty useless. Anyway, for the sake of avoiding are arguement

I didn't care much for the first strip, which was rather long-winded, but the comic has definitely picked up steam and humor meanwhile. Reminds me just how little I know of the classics.

From a hobby linguist's point of view, however, I would expect Achilleus to be the original Greek form and Achilles the latinized version. The Greek seem to have been a lot more fond of the -eu- diphthong (heck, diphthongs in general) than the Romans. I'd guess that Latin -eu- always spans two syllables, as in Piraeus (pi-rae-us), which is Peiraieus (pei-rai-eus) in the Greek original.

Oh, BTW, you might wanna correct the typo of Caesar in the banner.

That was kinda the point. The first comic was mostly a direct quote from Lattimore, who is long-winded by definition.

Sorry, didn't make it clear. I was trying to be sarcastic. Sort of a "What typo? There's no typo! I don't see any typos" sort of thing.
It's fixed now.
