In the book, that's actually the point. In this exchange, both Athena and Achilleus know that since Athena's a goddess, she's powerful enough to make him do whatever he wants. In addition, Achilleus already knows about a prophecy saying that he'll die if he fights in the Trojan war. So, both of them know that the promise is no more then a formality.
… in the comic, it's more fun (and funny, imho) to look at what the characters are doing, ignore the deeper motivations, and say, "Look! This guy is doing something really ridiculous! Let's mock him for it!"

I'd love to, but as it stands I'm struggling to keep up with the Silliad itself. A guest comic would have to replace a regular update, and would take longer to make (as I already have most of the comics until ~30 roughly plotted out, whereas I'd have to come up with an entirely new idea for BTSS). Oh well.

Well, never say I'm not a man of my word. New comic time! This didn't come out quite as well as I would have hoped, as I did a last-minute scripting change (which is why it took so long), but I'm pretty happy with the result. The next comic actually has a workable script, so the update should be on time.

Ok, so it's time to admit to myself that I don't have the drive for this anymore. I just don't want to do it – it's feeling more chore then fun.
Now, this could be temporary. It could be that once I no longer have deadlines, I'll be able to recapture the enthusaism I had at the beginning. It could be that this will die forever. I really don't know. But I have the feeling that guilt will work its way in there somewhere.
So, in other words, the Silliad is now on indefinite hiatus. Sorry to those who enjoyed it, but it really wasn't working anymore.
