Angelic Slayer
Welcome to Angelic Slayer! This is gag-a-day comic starring the Playground's resident Angel, Haruki! And also starring: The Playground!
Each individual comic is labeled "Phase". The comic does not have a continuous plot or storyline, and I have no interest in developing one at any point in the near future. But on occasion, I'll come up with a story arc that requires several comics and follow it for a couple of weeks.
I do not have an actual update schedule. I try to get a comic up every week, but most of the time I fail to do so, as school and general life get in the way. Recently, however, I've started doing short comics titled Mini-Slayer, starring the GITP Boardlings (introduced in Phase 34). These Mini-Strips take less time and effort than full comics (although some people have told me they like them more than full comics ), so when I don't have enough time to make a comic, I make a Mini. On occasion I don't have time for even that.
The newest strips are posted here on the first post. The older strips fall back into the Archive in this post as well, but are linked to instead of posted, to save your bandwidth.
Without further ado, here it is: Angelic Slayer!

I'll have to raise my fist in approval, Inkscape for the win! We'll crush the bones of the illustrator users and suck out the marrow! (ahem, maybe not).
Keep up the good work.Spoiler

Re: Angelic Slayer
Ahh, AMEN. All I wonder is how long will it take for me to have an appearence... And why I had to have a name that applies to so many things...
I started out with the first 3 strips, or "Phases". Of course, the Phase could change to Chapter, Episode, Chapitre, or something like that. You pick.

This is quite good. Will any HALO or Imperial Navy people be featured in it?

Re: Angelic Slayer
Thanks a lot for all your support. I will work on more comic strips, although probably not until monday (I might get some lucky time off, though.)
@Draken: Thanks! I'll work on the wings. Got a lot of work to do before I can catch up to Bath.
@Phase: It's just your imagination.
@Tempest: Probably, if I happen to know who they are. Also, I make a point in asking people for permission before using their characters. Most people say yes, but I still like to ask.
@Zombie Pixie: Brains, huh? Sure, why not?

Re: Angelic Slayer
Really? That explains a few things...
Haruki-kun, I applaud you on those three phases. You've proven to be ingenious and skilled in making OotS-style webcomics. Colored speech bubbles, nearly-identical style in drawing (I'm sure you could make it match 100% with a little more effort), witty titles and lines - all those points were reminiscent of OotS a great deal.
What else can I say but, don't get bored with it; continue making it when you feel like it.

Re: Angelic Slayer
@Sensate: Thanks a lot! I'll work on it!
@Shas: Heh, well, I might surprise you sometime.
In the meantime, there's Phase 4. I have several ideas for strips, featuring several people as cameos, but given that I'm volunteering for an event at school all weekend, I opted to draw a strip that didn't take as long to make. So there it is, Phase 4.

Re: Angelic Slayer
These are actually pretty good. It's kind of refreshing to see a gag-a-day OOTS style comic after all these OOTS story comics that we've been seeing lately.
The latest one reminds me a little too much of one of the gags from the South Park Guitar Hero episode, but you may not have even seen it. They probably weren't the first to come up with that joke either anyway.

That message should pop up if someone perfects Dragon Force. I think its impossible though. Unless you use a bot like this guy did.

You are in the having of much awesomes.
Just a suggestion - try getting the text to fill up the bubbles. It's a waste of space otherwise.Quote Of TheWeekWhenever I Feel Like Updating It (last updated 1/17/12)SpoilerOriginally Posted by Phase

Re: Angelic Slayer
*sigh* Just my luck. I finally start working on this and my schedule decides to disagree with me. Sorry, guys, but I have a Physics Exam on Wednesday, so all my work will be postponed until at least Wednesday afternoon. I'll try to get it done by then, after the stupid Test.
Thanks for your support, everyone. I'm glad you liked it so far.

Don't worry man. Focus on what you actually have to do and then keep with this great job. It won't kill us to wait for a bit of days.

Anyway..... since I had some time off at school, I decided to work on a Filler Strip: Angelic Slayer, Phase 6.
Why Phase 6? Because I'm still working on Phase 5.Last edited by Haruki-kun; 2008-04-15 at 07:20 PM.

Re: Angelic Slayer
I LOLed when I read it the first time, and LOLed again when I reread it to make sure I understood it.
Drawing style tips -
- MAXIMIZE SPACE IN THE BUBBLE!
Make a first line with a word or two, a couple equal lines with the middle one (or two) the widest, and a row with a single word at the bottom.
Also, center the text. - Round your stroke. Select a line, go to the Fill/Stroke dialogue, click "stroke style" and select the button that looks like a rectangle with a half circle on the top.
I'd give you screenshots for both, but I need to redownload Inkscape first.
