Wastes of Shello - Group 3

[Krimm_Blackleaf]

Kasang lunges several yards into the air to catch the bird with his sword and manages to swing brutally across the beasts left flank. He is suddenly splattered with dark blood and pieces of organs that are unfamiliar in every respect. The beast lets out a last screech and tumbles through the air and mist, colliding into the dirt hard with it's massive jaw hanging open and oozing blood.

FEAR NOT! REMAIN WITH THE COLUMN!" bellowed Aasiphan as he and Melbion began swooping about the edges of the panicking villagers. Garulf, for his part, immediately began searching about, attempting to discern just how many people had died.

Garulf searches about the area for signs of the dead, but all he can find are splatters of human blood here and there. He also notices, with a bit of looking that there are unusual, unnatural footprints here and there in the dead soil. The people are still in a terrible panic, when the man from before speaks up. "Fear not, my good people! There is little to fear here, for I will not allow such creatures to take anymore of us... before our time..." He has a dramatic inflection in the last bit of his sentence and as Kuusij listens and holds his weapons ready to fight off creatures, he tries not to contort his face in discomfort.

The sounds of the dread birds continues to ring out overhead...

Jerro buzzes as he flies toward the creature circling overhead, it looms down as if to catch Jerro out of the air like the insectile creature he appears to be but as it opens it's jaws and holds it's talons forward but the feyish elf dodges and weaves in such a manner to make the bird believe he flew past, but Jerro lashes at the beast from behind, digging a long, blood gash across it's back and it screeches again loudly.

"I must find Tassik. He will need to know of this airship, immediately... with the dangers apparent here on the ground, I think it may well be our best option." Garulf said grimly before striking out into the crowd, looking for the shifter leader.

"Mortal," Aasiphan intoned, addressing the man with more flourish on his words than venom in a serpent's tongue, "You speak boldly. What are your intentions?"

Kasang

Kasang ran to his horse and mounted. Bringing the stone beast to life he moved to herd the civilians in. His Flachion at the ready should any bird stray close.

Garulf searches through the crowd, and finds Tassik on the back of a summoned dire wolf, trying to keep everyone organized and safe. The tip of his staff is ignited, though it's hard to see from far away, he turns his head to you. "Garulf, what news have you of the situation?"

The man looks up at Aasiphan with bright eyes, "Pardon? I have no other intention but to keep my people safe and happy. Surely there is a place to rest nearby?"

Kasang does the same as Tassik from the opposite side of the mass of civilians, the birds seem to flock closer to him but stay just out of reach of melee, as if toying with him but keeping themselves safe.

[MountainKing]

"Aasiphan and Melbion report that somewhere in the skies above, there is some manner of airship. Though they both feel it is an unwholesome craft, they have suggested that perhaps we could use it to transport the villagers quickly. As for the beast that attacked us... it would lead me to think that the predators here on the ground are simply too large for us to fend off without taking further losses, though we have driven it off this time."

Aasiphan glanced at Melbion, who shook his head slightly. The taller deva in turn responded to the man who relished his bright language.

"There is little place to rest, mortal. We are in far more dangerous country than perhaps we anticipated."

[Krimm_Blackleaf]

"Perhaps moving and living on the ship would be best. It would certainly be safe... but how will we get ourselves onto it?"


"Then shall we walk forever? These people are not warforged!"

[MountainKing]

"If we had someone skilled in the trade of piloting such a craft, Aasiphan and Melbion could fly them to the ship and bring it back to us... otherwise, I do not know," Garulf stated dejectedly, "Do you know of anyone?"

[Threeshades]

"Okay then, let's finish you, there are others waiting to die."
Jerro continues slashing his dagger at the bird.

Vauth's eyes clear as the threat seems to be gone. He spits upon the ground, eyes scanning the mist for any further threats.

yeah, i too was like "well, there's nothing else left for me to do...so..what do do now?"

"Getting off the ground may be a good idea, anything to get out of this blasted mist." he comments.

Matteo relaxes, allowing the power to slip from his hands. The clouds part, opening up the sky. He sags slightly, feeling the drain of awesome energies
as they left him. He was glad that he did not have to further use his power... it may have hurt innocents...
Hearing the others, he spoke slowly.
I have been given power of the strongest elements of nature. If I can help in any way, tell me.

"If you can pilot the ship, or bear these innocents to it, then it would be greatly appreciated," Garulf said, "I have no such magic in me... I do not know if Aasiphan and Melbion can ferry the people, much less how long that would take."

Herding the commoners as best he could and keeping an eye on the birds Kasang directed his horse to join the others.
"I wish I had grown up a shepherd rather then a Fisher." Grumbled Kasang. "Hell this lot are probably more skittish then sheep."

"If you want to get this lot onto some sort of flying contraption your going to have to land it." Said Kasang mainly addressing Garulf. "I would be most impressed if you could convince one in fifty of them to take a flight with those Celestial Pigeons."

[MountainKing]

"As was said before, friend," Garulf said calmly, "If you are not willing to join us, you're welcome to stay behind. Now is not the time for venomous words nor blinding pessimism, and if you have nothing more to add, please, find it in yourself to go be constructive... elsewhere," the priest said, exasperation creeping into his voice as the coarse soldier once again did little more than speak blackly about the situation at hand; he even went so far this time to belittle the direct servants of Aeomon! Hand clenched, the Fist waited for Kasang's likely snide response, then turned back to the matter at hand.

"I never said anything about staying behind, priest. I merely point out the obvious. It's either land the ship, or walk. Now if you will excuse me I will go and be constructive before those birds decide they've found a free meal." So saying Kasang cantered off keeping an eye on the flying abominations. His summoned elemental flying close to hand.

Garulf shakes his head as the soldier leaves; in his mind, he silently wondered why every cynic he ever met believed themselves to be realists, before he continued to wait for Tassik's answer.

Tassik looks hopeful as he looks up at the sky where the ship might be. "I know not of anyone capable of flying an airship, but I will send Kuusij with you so he may try... Kuusij? Is that alright?"
Kuusij looks up at Tassik somewhat confused looking but still trusting of Tassik, "Yaes, I will at least try." He looks at Garulf, "Take me to the ship."

Ah crap... Sorry. I'm just overwhelmed by everyone and the two other groups. I'm very sorry.

Jerro continues to assault and slash at the flying monstrosity and in only a few seconds it's entire body spasms in mid-air as blood gushes from it and it locks up, falling to the earth.

A few moments later the other birds begin to notice the death after death of their kin and begin flapping harder, moving upward and ahead of the same path you're on. There is soon a sickly, dead silence.

Staring after the fleeing birds Jerro sheathes his dagger.
"Disappointing. Most disappointing."

He returns to the group cutting into the middle of their conversation:
"I have two things to ask: First, does anyone know what these creatures are? Second, where do we go from here?"

Garulf nods calmly.

"Come, friend Kussij; we will see if our friends can bear us skyward." With that, Garulf began to make his way back toward the devas...

The angels fly Kuusij up to the ship, disappearing into the thick mist above...

Kuusij lands gracefully on the deck of the ship, drawing his longsword and dagger from his belt and sniffs around. "Unusuael... I smell them distantly... We maest take advantage of it, not laet them caom back." The dark-skinned shifter runs over to the wheel of the ship, located inside the highest cabin, apparently ignoring all the gore and blood around.

Aasiphan turned to his companion.

"Continue the search, Melbion. I will stay with Kuusij, and ensure his safety." The other deva nodded, drawing his greatmace and beginning to search the ship once more.
