Marsh frowns, and dismisses the man. "I'm not even going to bother, if he wants to kill you, he can go ahead. I have better things to do than get in on a brawl."
Don't worry old man, I have no intention of killing you. I prefer not to kill unless it is unavoidable..and frankly, I need to know how you know enough about me to know who that man you're imitating is. It's a good trick, and I can't see under it, but you could use acting lessons!
Kurtoch raises his blade high above his head, and attempts to bring the side of it down on the mans head.
Spoiler
He uses the Mountain Hammer maneuver. Attack is at a -4, as he is attempting to make the attack non-lethal.
"Wait, what?" Acting lessons and attempted murders and hobgoblins, oh my!
Konnor looks back and forth between the paladin and his attacker. He draws his bow, stands in the doorway, and reaches back to his quiver. In a kind of aside to Marsh, he mutters, "You should take more interest in who's dropping dead around you!"
He almost unconciously attempts to keep things outside under control, shouting:
"Nobody out here move, blast it! That includes you - yes, you, the short guy running away!"

Your attack greatly wears down the 'paladin', who changes back to his old man form. Konnor recognizes him as the one he saw last night with Des, only with slightly different features.
"Looks like the gobbo's good at something..." He mutters before falling unconscious. His form then changes to that of a Changeling, with a faint hint of a nose, whispy white hair, and pale gray skin.
The halfling doesn't attempt to move.

Kurtoch, fix your 2d6 damage dice roll there, the tag's broken.
Kamiel, after quickly analysing the situation, walks over to the armoured hobgoblin. The warforged, 6'5" tall, "clad" in parts of a blue robe, and holding a well-crafted wooden staff, looks down at the crumpled changeling. Then he raises his green-glowing eye-sockets back to meet the hobgoblin's gaze.
"What has happened here?"

Though I guess it's not needed anymore, is it?

Konnor pulls an arrow out and nocks it, then draws it back. He watches in startled shock as the hobgoblin swings for the paladin's head. Upon seeing the transformation, he begins to suspect what may have happened, even if he isn't sure about the hobgoblin and the hafling...
It's the other one! Ah, but who are these guys?
Seeing that everyone is finally standing still, Konnor relaxes a little, but still keeps the bow partly drawn. He shifts his aim from the hobgoblin to the halfling and back as Kamiel makes his approach. Konnor approaches too, but also moves out to one side, not relinquishing his grip on the bow. Gesturing for the halfling to come back to a comfortable speaking range, he turns to Kurtoch, and asks, "Please put away the weapon before you answer."

The hobgoblin sheathes the scimitar.
This changeling was threatening the halfling, so I intervened. He first appeared as an old man, and he changed to a man from my past. At first I was disoriented, but he didn't play the part very well so I knocked him out. That's about it. I'm Kurtoch by the way.
After introducing himself, he pounds his fist on his chest.
Kamiel looks at Kurtoch for a few heartbeats longer, then nods. Having seen Hobgoblin soldiers on several occasions during the war, he too closes his hand and pounds his armoured chest with a resonant clang. "Tome. Kamiel, nowadays."
Then his green gaze turns to the halfling, awaiting the answer to Konnor's question.

*laughs* Now you've done it - I can't stop picturing a warforged in ninja clothes. Order of the Stick style, at that. 300 pounds of metal, dancing through the shadows ...

"Marsh of Leblanche is my name," Marsh says. "If we're doing introductions."
Spoiler
25 Bluff. I need to buy a Wink Brooch sometime for more Bluff whoring. I normally don't roll Bluff when using the name Marsh of Leblanche since it IS a name of hers, but when introducing herself to someone new in the party, I tend to do it just to allow a chance it might be discovered. Her "actual" name would be Latin D'Cannith. I think it's confusing Iron a bit since he referred to her by Latin earlier.
Konnor responds very quickly. "No! This guy was talking about bribing the Watch last night. I'm sure he has inside buddies. If you take him back there he'll be back on the street and hunting you again by tomorrow night."
That, and the fact that he was bribing the Watch to look for me - and once the authorities have me, they can figure out who I really am, ship me back to Cannith West, and then everything goes to hell. Better to cut off the source of the bribes and keep the Watch away from this group.
Konnor looks over to Kamiel. "Is there anywhere here that's private?"

"In Sharn? Things are only as private as the amount of time you're going to spend in them. Every minute you stay in a place the likelihood of it being less private than you thought increases by one percent." Marsh jokingly says. "I should know, I'm a born native."
"The lectures of Professor Colworth are notoriously unattended," Kamiel returns after a few moments of thought, "and it struck me as unlogical that he still gives his lectures in a large lecture hall. My observations indicate that the old human's eyesight and hearing may be impaired. He does not appear to perceive the absence of students."
"It is likely, though, that Marsh of Leblanche can offer better suggestions than I could."
His gaze turns to her.

"Well, with all these people, we can't exactly go to a restaurant or bar. Typically I do my private conversations in heavily crowded areas. It works perfectly when it's just a few people. As it stands though, we have five people here, so that's not going to work out. So that lecture hall seems like the best bet." Marsh says.
"Excellent." Konnor gives a small and humorless grin as he puts up his weaponry and looks at the halfling and hobgoblin. He makes a sweeping arm gesture towards the doors leading the way. "After you..." Then he realizes that he has no clue where this lecture hall is, and his grin becomes a more abashed one. "...and, uh, Kamiel."
How many private conversations does she have to hold while cleaning and entertaining? I guess Sharn really is a dangerous place...

Kamiel nods and leads Konnor, Marsh, Kurtoch and the halfling towards the lecture hall where old Professor Colworth seems to be talking to himself. Only one young - very young - student is present, quite close to the front row, but he has apparently fallen into a deep slumber some time ago.
OOC:
Spoiler
... You folks took Kamiel's suggestion serious? *astounded look* I mean, with Kamiel, it is hard to say whether he means it serious, or whether he does have developed a sense of humour ...
... but I was simply so out of ideas (that Kamiel could have, given that he's new to Sharn), that I tossed out something rather absurd-seeming!
But well, it's crazy, but it might even work - so, let's do it! *chuckles*

I really hope someone collected the Changeling's body. Konnor will do it if no one else does.
Konnor looks at the scene with wry amusement as he settles the changeling's unconscious form into one of the chairs in the back row. He speaks quietly, but not in a whisper. "It's so good to know the future of academia is in good hands."
He turns around to look at the halfling and Kurtoch. "I hardly know where to begin. Lets start with what you know about this guy." Konnor motions toward the body on the word "this."

At Kurtoch's comment, Kamiel looks at him silently for a moment. Then he nods. "You are correct. History holds many secrets. Much knowledge ... and understanding ... of oneself."
Then he turns his gaze to Konnor, listening to his questions and the forthcoming answers.

Marsh sits on top of a nearby desk, letting them do the talking for now. If they can't coax anything out of him, she might have to try. She might not look it, but she is rather well-versed in brusque negotiations. She is only fairly annoyed she might have to threaten with a rapier instead of a weapon more suited to torture, like a dagger. She could also use a spell. But heck, if he cooperates, I might not have to do anything.
She turns a slightly critical look on the halfling."You know, it really is in your best interest to talk, and as much as possible. Whether you do or not, those guys probably wouldn't give up on you. There's no "I'll let you go if you stay quiet" with this kind of thug," Marsh says, poking the changeling with her rapier.
Spoiler
Diplomacy check 15. On the subject of intimidation, Marsh actually has +11 to it. She's pretty scary!
The halfling remains quiet for a moment, but upon Marsh's threat he begins to speak.
"That guy's name is Sho. He's one of the higher ups in the Tyrants gang, and last night he had some business to attend to when his partner died, thanks to him." He points at Konnor. "I was in a skycoach with Jerrik at the time and told Sho as soon as I could that no one with him was a threat. Sho sent Des to see if Jerrik's tongue was too loose, and apparently it was. Sho was pretty angry at me and when he saw me today as I was trying to hide in what I consider to be the safest place in Sharn, he confronted me."
"Please don't hurt me for what I've done. I had to do it to protect myself. The Tyrants have me down for a 10,000 gold debt I have to repay, so I do odd jobs for them instead."
