trouble with pictures and avatars

Hey :) How do I get my home-brew avatars to work? I've uploaded it onto photobucket and entered the url in the avatar selection bit of my profile, but its not working. ANyone know what I should do?cheers

Make sure you are checking the box for 'I have my own avatar' or whatever that says. Took me a try or two to get it.

I ticked it and put in the url. The pic didn't change. I thought maybe it would when I saved changes, but it didn't. Cheers though

Make sure its the right format, I've made that mistake in the past.

hmmm...yeah its a jpg.

somethings changed though, its saying There are invalid Characters in your personal userpic url or picture name

I use that whenever I want to post an avatar for any site.

there should be one that says Direct Link to image, or something like that
