Default the contiki strip [webcomic inspired by OOTS]

Hi

I was greatly inspired by the visual design of OOTS, and when I started playing around with Inkscape I decided to start my own comic strip based on my life as a programmer and the stuff that happens at the company I work for.

And that's how the contiki strip came to be.

There are currently 6 strips available (it starts here). It's been a great success amongst my coworkers, and it's probably more fun for them than everyone else, but still I would be very happy if you had a look and told me what you think.

Any tips on both the visual side and the stories would by much appreciated.

Very impressive even for someone like me with little interest in coding. The footnotes makes it a bit easier to follow, but for some reason I feel that the Slashdot crowd would be all over this.
Noticed that you're Norwegian, even without spelling it out I kinda had a hunch because of the Thor Heyerdahl reference.

Thank you for your feedback.

What I find the most challenging is writing good stories - I have a lot of ideas, but fitting them into the comic strip story format is not always easy. Any tips or links to tutorials/help on structuring the storyline?

I think you're doing a fine job already. Strip #6 is like a trial of fire when it comes to dialogue, and dialogue is king here so keep doing what you're doing.
Just remember that some of us don't fully grasp the intricacies of coding, but don't dumb it down. Just add comments/footnotes like before to make the experience interesting for everyone.

If you're really interested in comic stoytelling techniques I recommend Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics. There is a good chance your local library carries it, so try there first.

I've been thinking for some time that I should tell you people about it - since it's inspired by OotS.., that's all, and that's why I'm here.

And I've been reading some threads here today, and found a lot of new inspirations too.

Oh, damn, yes, you're right It must have been in the back of my mind all along, but I should have done something more explicit with it.

Nice. It's like Dilbert and OotS, mashed up together, but with a different sort of twist. Dilbert is more about stupid coworkers and programs, and yours is more about realistic but still ridiculous events that happen during programming/work. Keep it up, man! Great job; it seems like you've had several OOTS-style artists look over it, in addition to scriptwriting. It's amazing to think you did all this at once before posting it. Again, keep it up!

It defintely seemed that way. Although the brain bug would have resulted in endless hillarity based around a CPU problem, such as a defunct system that no one will touch becuase the screen saver is a pic of Cthulhu, or the OS is rumored to be cursed.

LoL. Do you read Charles Stross by any chance? The Atrocity Archives? Nice mix of occult horror and tech-geek stuff, with the protagonist a mix between James Bond and - you guest it - Dilbert.

No, I've never even heard of it still now. I wwas just submitting what I honestly thouhgt would be a cool, and funny idea for the comic.
