Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
Giants from the Playground I like, but Order of the Stick is great in it's own way...
I think Order of the Stick would be best. More people would recognize that if they are casual fans of the comic. Plus it's the organization our fan-forums are based around anyway!
Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
I'm in. Caledor sounds fine, that's actually the server I started all my beta Order characters on.
Don't know exactly what my main will be yet, still trying them out, but I'm leaning heavily toward War Priest. I'll post it when I set up for the Headstart.

Hey guys. *waves* I'm hopefully going to be getting the game on launch, so I hope to see you there. I'm going to be a Bright Wizard.
Name of the guild? I'm not fussy, really. Something to identify us with the forums. So either a spin-off of Giant in the Playground or something Warhammer-like making the initials. Gork in the Playground?
No! Is' Mork in da Playground ya stoopid git!
Wot? Get 'im!

Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
Q: Are all the servers going to be set so you can have only Dest OR Order chars? I can't find it in any of the FAQs, but then I haven't been looking too hard. If they're not going to be that way, it'd be cool to have both a Dest and Order guild on the same server, cuz I wants to play me some Orks!
BTW: Orks should totally have been their own faction... When it comes to Chaos vs anything, I'll side against Chaos in a heartbeat, but...
The Waaagh!!! calls to me...

I was the exact same way, but then I grew to love DEs.
Still don't particularly like any of the Chaos classes.
Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
Once I get my preordered copy I'll either be making Dwarf engineer named Kraggi or a Witch Hunter with some cheezey Germanic name, probably the Dwarf though.

Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
Actually, Monolith isn't apparently going to be available at head start tomorrow, so let's do Sylvania instead. At least, that's my vote and where I'm going to suggest that my family go so that I can play with them since nothing's been set in stone here.
Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
Would it be possible to start it on one of the servers that is available during the collector's edition headstart play? There's only 5 of them and Caledor isn't one of them. That way, those of us that are in that, won't have to worry about switching to a different server once things go live.
I would recommend Sylvania. And that is where I will be making my characters tomorrow.
Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
I have absolutely no preference as to which server. I didn't get the collectors' edition, so I will not be able to get started until Tuesday. I'll make characters then.
Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
i guess sylvania is the server that seems to be going for us so lets all make charicters there as soon as possible(im thinkin it may fill up). I'll roll a dwarf engineer named crispydave
Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
I won't be able to be in your guys' guild (been signed up to roll with PA's Candymancer's for awhile now), but you should know that Sylvania will be one of the many homes of the Goon Squad ( a guild infamous for ass-hatery and sheer numbers. On Todbringer alone, I believe there were 5-7 Goon guilds, as the cap was set to 100 during this time).
Point is, they arn't very pleasant to play against. Sure, they arn't the best players as far as I've seen, but when they outnumber you 4-1, it doesn't matter.
They will also be on Skull Throne and Red Eye Mountain (Order guild here though) apparently.
Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
I'm not afraid of the Goon Squad. There are jerks everywhere, sometimes they unite, sometimes they unite under a banner others have heard of. Meh, whatever. I'm going to be playing Order on Sylvania and Destruction on Skull Throne and Goons be damned.
Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
And frankly, the goons aren't that bad. I mean, yes...they have gotten themselves a reputation, but in my experience it's mostly talk and the members themselves are actually not bad people, for the most part anyway. There are some jerks, but most guilds have those.
I was a member of a goon WoW guild for awhile, and actually, until it merged with a few other guilds and got huge and obnoxious, it was the funnest guild I was ever a part of. We did a lot of rp events and there were some really great people.
Anyway, to summarize, don't knock the goons just based on their mostly unearned reputation, especially considering that we don't even know the composition of players that will make up the guilds playing this game. They could be great.
And besides, servers are big. Even if they are jerks, we probably won't interact with them much.
Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
Possibly, and I really can't talk about the guild's player base. I've never actually played with them or anything.
I can just see, as well as many others, that the Goons can be a problem in a game like WAR. If WAR is the economy, then the Goons are a Monopoly. Hundreds of people in a single guild is a little crazy. And in WAR, I'm sure they wouldn't have much of a problem having 8 groups of 50 or so to go and raid each keep in T2. Even 24 would be enough to get through a minorly player defended keep.
It might not be that bad, just personally don't want to have to deal with them.
Edit: Also, if you have a ton of people you know rolling on that server, I could defiantly see not wanting to change it.
Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
This is for US servers, right?

Re: Giant in the Playground Warhammer Online Order Guild
I'll sign up for this. Think I might go with Empire, either a Warrior Priest or a Bright Wizard. I've got the collector's edition head-start as well...
