Speaking of avatars.
Spoiler
I think I got my concept down.
Somewhat inspired by the Dragonfire Adept class, except with more of a heavy feel to it instead of the whole squishy mage gig.

@Keveak; It's fine. If your country calls Santa's boots by a different name, it's hardly your fault. Or, not even a fault. It's like Some people spelling it 'grey' and some calling it 'gray'. Neither way is 'wrong'.
However, it is my belief that the metric system is better.
@Tiff; Awesome.

Meh, I don't give a crap about original series quotes. Just Q quotes. Use Spock quotes whenever you wish.

That's the point, actually.

There are two primary systems of measurement, Imperial and Metric.
Imperial uses really old measurements that most people are used to, like miles and inches, but that have no logical basis to their progression (Each inch is about 2.145 cm, each foot is 12 inches, etc.).
Metric is much newer, so people are less used to it and many show resistance to using it. Unlike Imperial, Metric values are all based on multiples of 10 (Like a metre is 100 cm, a kilometre is 1000 metres, etc.)
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIV, The Random Kill Strikes Back. Again..
There has been talk in the states (Not recently however that i've heard) of converting from the inch-pound system to metric. Only problem is, its too embedded to just switch out of.

The Imperial system does have logic to its progression: it was used to make peasants seem dumber compared to the aristocracy.
And the Metric system is far easier and more accepted (internationally speaking).
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIV, The Random Kill Strikes Back. Again..
At mad mask: Technically, yes, I can't argue that.
But I do dispute the idea behind why the inch-pound (Imperial) system was created. Wasnt the imperial system made first, then some dude said "Wait a second, this system sucks!"

Keveak, your comics have Keris and Fawkes acting extremely out of character. Fawkes would have arrested you as soon as he got the order. And he definitely wouldn't have let you take his HUD visor. He's a trained soldier. Even if you were able to steal it away from him, he wouldn't just sit there while you messed with his equipment.
Plus, Q's character already ran away.

Speaking of acting out of character,
I've finally decided to drop my laziness and post the Skornbail Incident. I plan to make it run anywhere from 15-25 comics. It's in mah thread, Killin mah doodz.

First off, an inch being 2.54cm means nothing here. You could have put in the metric description that a centimeter is 0.3937 inches.
Secondly, Imperial Units, while not following a logical progression, uses logical basis for units.
An inch is a twelfth of a foot.
A foot is about a foot length, and more accurately a 600th of a 600th of a degree of longitude.
A yard is about a pace, or three feet.
A furlong is the length of an ox drawn furrow, or 220 feet.
A mile is eight furlongs, 5,280 feet long.
And a league is walking distance in one hour, three miles.
The metric system defined the meter as a ten millionth of the distance from Equator to the North Pole. The main advantage of the metric system is that the constants between different SI units is usually 1. It take 1N to move 1kg 1m, and so on.
And earlier I said the Decimal System was flawed, hence why Keveak asked about it.

Duodecimal. Base 12. While 10 has only two factors (2 and 5), 12 has four (2, 3, 4 and 6).
We have 12 hours in a day, and 360 (12 x 5 x 6) degrees in a circle. Should we use Metric Time and Grads?
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIV, The Random Kill Strikes Back. Again..
Yeah, but a kilometer doesn't mean anything. It's just a thousand times "this length".
126720 inches is 2 miles.
My point about factors one of the reasons why a Duodecimal based counting system (i.e. using the digits 0-B) is better that a Decimal one (using the digits 0-9).
