Calling myself a game designer requires that I design game stuff from time to time. Here, find Open Game Content for your favorite medieval fantasy roleplaying game.

This Old Rule: In each article, I take a rule that isn't working the way I'd like and spruce it up a bit. Read and judge for yourself whether you like the changes I make or not.

  • Diplomacy skill: I try to take out the flat DC's and the need for constant circumstance modifiers to make the Diplomacy skill more precise and easier to run.
  • Polymorph, Part 1 and Part 2: An two-part attempt to reduce the abuses and clarify the confusions surrounding shapechanging magic.
  • Knowledge Skills: A variant skill use that proves knowledge is power. By Amber E. Scott

White Hats: The good. Here you'll find classes (prestige or prestige-free), feats, spells, and other tools to turn the forces of darkness into Hamburger Helper™.

Black Hats: The bad and the ugly. Here are your monsters, villains, and traps. Everything out to maim your character can be found here. Picture a big "NO PLAYIRZ" sign hanging on the door to this treehouse.

  • The Literati (Part 1): An organization of evil informations gatherers might be stalking your PCs right now... By Amber E. Scott
  • The Literati (Part 2): Two factions and the spells and feats of the Literati. By Amber E. Scott
  • The Literati (Part 3): The leaders of the Literati and the sources of their power.By Amber E. Scott
  • Gingerbread Golem: Run, run as fast as you can. You can't get away from the gingerbread man. (CR 2)
  • Charred Horror: The restless corpse of a burned treant is back to kick your druid's ass. (CR 9)
  • Piranha Swarm: Hundreds of teeny tiny fish eating the heroes. What else do you want? (CR 3)
  • Fenixborn: A fiery Celestial to smack your more duplicitous heroes around a bit. (CR 8)
  • Tunnel Guardian and Temple Gargoyle: Keep pesky heroes from coming back year after year! Train one of these two guardian monsters to kill adventurers dead. (CR 4, 6, and 13)
