Hey, turns out my UCAS wasn't done.
Just a quick edit though, and then it's out of the way.
Finally.

Also, my friend and I have a theory: Everybody in the whole wide world is a bit of a loony in their own way. I think it's true.
dibs on Chocolate Flavoured Lunacy. *drool*
And yes, everybody is mad. Even if they're so mad they're sane. That's the worst kind of madness, because it's boring. =P

Apparently. Either that, or we just have no good topics right now.

Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
What about Opossums? Aren't they some ugly critters?
-
Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
I once shot an opossum...
Ok, I'll explain. This previous summer a friend of mine was doing pest control as his summer job, and he needed my help in a place with lots of opossums out in central Mass. So basically, we had about 5 acres to handle, and each of us had an air rifle. So, I shot an opossum.
What? :smalltongue:

It wasn't really meant like that, I meant how can you be able to drive but no be able to drive a manual, but your way works better probably, I'd like more control over my car. Is it easier to stop in a manual or automatic?

That's what I say! People who're too sane are insane in a bad way, it works. Don't look at me like that!
I even have a system of evaluation to determine how insane people are and it works.
And you didn't scare anyone away, that avvie's way too cute.

Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
Complete stops are easier in automatic. All you do is hit the brakes. On a manual transmission you also have to push down on the clutch.
-
Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
Combining the two topics, I once ran over an opossum with my Automatic-transmission car.
Its not fun spraying that stuff off with a hose.

Actually, they're both the same. You pull the hand brake.
Of course, that can really wear down the parts involved, pulling the hand brake while moving, but it works pretty well if you're about to crash into something.

Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
Opossums are the nastiest kind of rodent road kill. They're not small enough to just get easily crushed like a squirrel. They're big, and stink quite a bit. Someone once hit an opossum on my street, and the carcass just sort of lay there on the street. And apparently some other people ran over that because the guts ended up being strewn all over the place. Now if this was a small animal this wouldn't be a problem.

Nitpick: oppossums aren't rodents. They're marsupials, which pretty much excludes them from rodentia, which is composed entirely of placental mammals. :smallsigh:
Personally, I think they're pretty neat (if a bit creepy-looking) because they're fantastic survivors and colonizers. Which is something they have in common with people.
-
Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
Rodent-looking marsupial then. Either way, having an opossums guts all over your wheels sucks.

The same could be said of amadillos, cats, raccoons, squirrels, dogs, etc., pretty much any critter small enough to get run over.
Wait until you 'run over' an elk, then you can complain.
-
Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
Elk create more of a "crash into" effect than "run over"
And can't hitting an elk actually kill you?
-
Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
Reminded of a Mythbusters episode...
...'cept that was moose, not elk.
Hitting a big enough whitetail deer could cause you injury, not to mention pretty much end your car.

Yeah, elk aren't something you can simply wash off your tires after a collision with. :smallwink:
Yes, if your car is low-enough set the elk, after impact, can slide up the hood of the car and through the windshield.
While I was living in Colorado a friend of mine hit an elk. Fortunately, because the weather was so bad he was going slow, the car was totalled but he wasn't hurt.

Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
Clearly I should drive a snow plow. That'll get rid of all those pesky animals!

I'm applying there. They have a brilliant Computer Science course. And a Wii (but honestly, that's not the swinging factor :smalltongue:). I would so homebrew it.

My stupidly rich Grandfather's new Landrover (Discovery 3) is an automatic, and it doesn't have a handbrake. (He's spending my inheritance?! :smallconfused:) The parking brake works automatically when it's at a standstill, and releases if you want to pull away... Dunno if it's the same for all, I doubt it though.

Nooo.
Too late now.
Bangor for it's beautiful, beautiful course.
I'd have only applied for Newcastle if you'd put me up.
Also: Oh my God. Why did nobody tell me about this? I would have bought it, on release, had I known this piece of genius voice acting was in there.

Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
SImple; anyone who is less than 25% insane is too sane and thus a danger to themselves and society. Think Carcer from Night Watch. Likewise, anyone over 87% insane is too insane.
The average person, based on my evaluation, is 34% insane.
I am roughly 56% insane sometimes as much a 71% insane depending on things.
How I evaluate people depends on how smart they are, their eccentricities, whether or not they care about what others think of them; their activities and several other critieria such as humour.
Problem is that all this is strictly my view and preferences. The boundaries are [Ialways[/I] the ame no matter what each persons' personal preferences are though.

Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
Hmm... intriguing.
Note to self: work on lessening the number of times per day one argue's with oneself vocally on various theological and philosophical points.

Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
Well that's no good, I can't use that to give myself a number.
I'm probably a good deal crazier than most people, but I wouldn't say I'm over the 'danger to society' mark. Even if I hate it >.>
Mostly cause I seem to have this 'Paladin' aspect in my head that sometimes decides to wake up and shout rhetoric a lot. It makes me uptight and self-righteous. It also means I want the best for everyone, so it's not all bad.

Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
Most people call me "lazy" because I prefer to lounge around my apartment and watch TV/play videogames then do much else. Occasionally I will write something...
-
Re: Aziraphales Actually Alliterative And Awesomely Affluent Random Banter #104
Speaking from experience...not every paladin wants what's best for everyone...
I've long since surrendered to insanity, makes writing so much more interesting when the character is actually in your head saying "Come on, you know I wouldn't say that!"

Have you done the thing where you have a conversation between two characters out loud and speaking with their mannerisms and accents, etc that you picture?
I do that occasionally when I'm writing dialogue.
