Story time though. I once ended up getting my entire D&D party killed because my character thought it was a good idea to fight a procession of Mushroom people. (I don't even remember why, at this point) instead of retreating. Everyone except the Monk died, and the Monk only lived because he saw the writing on the wall and ran away. Now that was a screw up. It ended up okay though, we all made new characters that got recruited by the survivor to finish the quest and avenge our old party.
Just....how OP were these mushroom people? LOL

Supposedly they were CR 1/8 for most of them, and CR 1 for the big ones. But the little ones didn't even attack, they just hit us with Con saves, and if we failed the saves we were stunned for a round.

Happy belated birthday Gnomes!
I’m back but I’m not going to get an IC post up tonight.

Re: Adventures in Helnith: Assault on the Town of Ash (OoC)
What time is it at the moment, in game?
-
Re: Adventures in Helnith: Assault on the Town of Ash (OoC)
Mark arrived just before 8pm, so kinda late I'd assume.

... Oh. It's bedtime. I see.

Re: Adventures in Helnith: Assault on the Town of Ash (OoC)
We probably need to get our poor Pokemon dinner dinner first.
Actually, how do Pokeballs and being in the box work for the Pokemon inside? Is there a virtual reality thing, or just a small cramped area?

The Pokémon are usually held in stasis in their Pokéballs while in storage (this is why if your Pokémon get seriously injured the nurse will take them for treatment and won’t let you switch them with an uninjured ‘mon - they can’t heal), and the Pokéballs themselves are stored in Pokémon Centers and similar places. There are some edge cases - the nurse (and some other positions, like the regional Pokemon Professor*) can override the system to either take the Pokémon out or put them in, this is usually done for healthcare or research reasons - and if you’ve seen the anime, there are places like Professor Oak’s lab where the Pokémon can free range when they aren’t in the party, but those are the exception rather than the rule, and require a special license.
Spoiler: *Less
Show
The regional Pokémon Professor for Helnith, Professor Hickory, vanished into the Spectral Dimension about ten or twenty years ago during one of the last batches of rifts (they occur in a regular pattern, with most of them occurring in a spike about every ten years - obviously we’re in a spike now) along with one of the only two Eevee to have been in Helnith in the last thirty years. (The other was an Egg the Siltis Elder gave to one of the group - although not the group member who has it now!) So not much chance of him yoinking one of your Pokémon to study if you somehow get your hands on a Legendary or something else ludicrously rare.

Which Pokémon are you training?

Re: Adventures in Helnith: Assault on the Town of Ash (OoC)
Gotcha. So it doesn't seem like much time passes for the Pokemon themselves? I'm trying to get a better feel for how Less's Pokemon, other than Buck, would feel about being in their Pokeballs, or in box storage if Less ends up with more than six total Pokemon.

Akitsu the Trapinch, if I get a chance.

This is a question for our newer players:

Well, that was a good idea. Glancing back at Tattersail, he asked his psychic type,
"Well, what did you get from them?" He relayed her response to the others word-for-word.
Tattersail is actually strong enough to read unguarded minds clearly now, but since Mark hadn’t specifically asked her to do that before or during the meeting, just your characters’ emotional state during the meetup is fine. Basically, was anyone lying their butt off about wanting to stop Bandra and/or plotting murder? :smallwink:
-
Re: Adventures in Helnith: Assault on the Town of Ash (OoC)
... Oh. I thought that full mind reading would be at 150 special attack. I see that I was wrong. Tattersail is the real MVP on the player team. Mark is just the boy who carries her pokeball around. :smalltongue:
-
Re: Adventures in Helnith: Assault on the Town of Ash (OoC)
Nope, no murder. Any description is probably an accurate depiction of Less's thoughts, though not necessarily word for word. Tattersail might have picked up Less's thoughts about his daughter, money, or just how young everyone looks to him.
Also, how much is the internet a thing in the Pokemon world? Do they have an equivalent to Google?
-
Re: Adventures in Helnith: Assault on the Town of Ash (OoC)
Sorry about absence again lately, been through a rough patch. I'm going to read through what I missed and have a post up later today.
And better late than never - happy birthday two weeks back, Gnomes!

Yup, internet exists and gets used. Probably gets used less around the younger Pokémon training set than their real world equivalents, since it's hard to catch Pokémon while sitting at a computer and most kids would be starting their journeys around age ten, but e-mail is a thing, and search engines are a thing. IIRC we broke into a safe after a previous mission by looking up the model online, and part of Mina's research for catching a Pokémon fence involved an internet forum.
-
Re: Adventures in Helnith: Assault on the Town of Ash (OoC)
Gotcha. Not immediately relevant, but useful in the future.
I'll also remind you if needed in the future. I wasn't sure if the Pokeballs should have gone under inventory or Pokemon anyway.

Re: Adventures in Helnith: Assault on the Town of Ash (OoC)
I thought up another question. Is there any way to change a Pokemon's ability to it's hidden ability (dream world), in the game?

You mean the Ability Patch? Not as far as the group knows at this time.

Neat. I didn't know that was an item. I realized I wanted to switch Hero's ability sometime in the last few weeks, so it's good to know there's theoretically something I could try to find that would accomplish that, even if it might be rare.
