I have nothing else to say, seeing as the debate on the colour of alignment not only baffles me, but also falls into the problem that I really don't think that you can sensible classifiy the full breadth of sentient/sapient personalities into nine (or however many) pigeon-holes... (Yes, in spite of the frequent LE jokes I make and the fact I'm more "lawful" than not, even I will admit people are not so easy to classify. Broadly good/neutral/Evil I can manage, with the understanding they are pretty broad terms that cover a lot of ground, and that the definition between the latter and the former two are most sharply defined.) D&D's alignment system had some interesting effects on game mechanics in 3.x, but on reflection, they are generally more problematic than not.

Catechist is the thus far best term I have found in English (or any language, though I have trouble looking) for someone who, while remaining your ally, engages in antagonistic dialectic processes to assure you are on the level.

Being blue doesn't mean you care about knowledge, but that you care about it for its own sake, and not because of what it does. Likewise, if your solution to most problems is 'set it on fire' that could be black if it's the easiest solution for you, white if your problems are lawless and corrupt, green if you set fire to decaying and corrupting elements, or blue if your flames are set so you can examine the pattern of incineration.
The means determine what colour your magic is. The end determines what colour you are.

I know, I know. It sounds stupid. But, get a long handled sledgehammer, put some padding on the end (you don't even need that much) and then just like... Do motions with it. Shovel, exaggerated axe swigs, exaggerated hammering, for like, 4 minutes. 4 minutes is the best combo of "actual amount of time so I will matter" and "not even five minutes so I'm not losing anything if I do it". And a short burst of hard exertion with a cool down period, several times, can keep your metabolism Burning For up to twelve hours afterwards - that's why those kids who play tag for twenty minutes every day are so scrawny! Alignment is always a non-specific thing. You can do the Yin-Yang thing, where each time you divide something, it can be further subdivided, but that is always a thought exercise, rather than a concrete definition of things.
Further, you can design an ideology so broad thr everything does, indeed, fall under its aegis. It just becomes so abstract at that point that it's not worth it. See the whole "LG person and CG person are functionally indistinguishable" debate.

The fans did.
Suddenly, everyone took to trying to name the pony. She became Derpy Hooves, and enough people clamped about her that the show noticed, and kept the eyes as a nod to the fans. They did not, however, design her as an icanaion of mental retardation, and in fact removed her name from an episode when people pointed out "hey, you know what 'Derp' means, right?".

Worth noting, far as I understand it wasn't that simple. It was that plus the fact that the character was being treated a little dismissively/derogatively in the context of the show and the episode. She wasn't just a silly pony, she was a silly pony and things were her fault and the main characters were rolling their eyes at her in exasperation and so on. It was nothing terrible, but on reflection, wasn't the most FIM of depictions of Derpy, really.

You seem to still be avoiding one of my biggest questions: Why do the opinions of people who would chastise you matter?
At the very least, as mentioned, simply don't advertise it to them. The internet is probably -more- cultured than the regular world; it's impossible to not run into -someone- that shares the same ideologies as you, no matter how adverse they are.
Really, these guys certainly seem rather open; just save your pony thoughts with them, and stay in the closet about it otherwise.

Everyone has something about their favorite fandom that they don't like, and some people only go to it for certain reasons. I know several fans of, for example, Bleach, who only sign on for the buff guys trying to stab their massive swords into each other and perform lots of different tricks in the process. .... I need new friends.
But the point is, your situation still sounds normal. And you really shouldn't let it bother you personally. And you definitely shouldn't let anyone else make you feel bad about it. They don't need to know, they shouldn't care, and if either of the former is true, you shouldn't care what they think.

Well that sucks. I can't count how many times Medikits have meant the difference between life and death.
Cool picture too.
UFO 31
Spoiler
Show
Dear Princess Celestia,
Tonight we had a rather straightforward mission. For us at least. The humans detected a slow moving but gigantic UFO heading towards Brazil. Quickly realizing that their interceptor was no match for it they followed it in hopes that it would either land or show them where an alien base was. While they were following it a second smaller UFO showed up which they quickly shot down. As a result we were sent in.
The UFO was identical to the one we had captured intact. The only differences were the thick jungle around us and the damage done by the interceptor. The most surprising thing about this mission is how effective Fluttershy was in the jungle. She quickly befriended the local wildlife which helped take out two aliens after Fluttershy opened fire upon them. She also move effortlessly through the think undergrowth and patched you up after an alien shot you point blank. In fact she did such a good job that the humans immediately pronounced you ready for active duty when we got home.
Besides that clearing the UFO itself was pretty easy. You captured two of the floaters and the rest of us gunned down the remainder. The only downside is one floater got a lucky shot and destroyed our tank. Oh wait I almost forgot! Pinkie spotted an alien and I rushed up and captured one as well! The only thing I'm concerened about is that giant UFO. It landed for a little while then quickly took off again easily outpacing the human interceptors. It disappered over the North Pacific and the humans suspect that it went back to orbit.
Other then that a new base on an island near Australia was found. Rarity and Applejack's squad have been assigned to take it out. Good luck guys!
Your Faithful Student,
Twilight Sparkle

I've mentioned before what I call my "insatiable curiosity". I want to know everything. Upon finding something interesting, my immediate thought is "how and why does that work". I don't care if it has practical application somewhere else, though that's a nice bonus; I just want to know it. I live for "huh, that's neat" moments.
I'm blue green. I feel some kinship for this statement (my parents still bring up when I was a kid and told them I wanted to be omniscient.)

I've already answered that, and I was responding to someone else. Not everything I post is to answer to you, you know....

Everyone has something about their favorite fandom that they don't like, and some people only go to it for certain reasons.
Yeah, one thing is just not liking and the other just straight out hating the parts I dislike, or some of them at least.

But the point is, your situation still sounds normal. And you really shouldn't let it bother you personally. And you definitely shouldn't let anyone else make you feel bad about it. They don't need to know, they shouldn't care, and if either of the former is true, you shouldn't care what they think.
I'm not counting the internet, doesn't matter since it's full of everything anyways.

Pardon me. I missed the point at which you adressed anything that I said. Probably because I'm too busy flapping my own gums. Care to enlighten me?
Of course, you don't have to if you don't want to, but could you at least state to choose that option? I can take defeat or dismissal, it's the draw / what-if that gets to me.

Hate's a pretty strong word, there.

You certainly should count the internet! People've been reunited with children mssing for 3 years on the internet... people from other countries that imigrated to America but were seperated for over 30 years have been able to meet back up with the power of the internet. The internet is awesome!
................ speaking of the internet.... is there any chance you play on the internet, Luka? 'cause Rainbow Dash is gonna be playable in My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic. Might you be interested in the competition this thread's gonna have when it comes out? I know I am. :smallamused: :smallcool:

Call upon the seaponies~
When you're in distress~
... Dear Celestia what have you ponies done to me.
I no longer feel emasculated by the use of the words 'ponies', 'Pinkie Pie', 'Cutie Mark'... the list goes on. I have a tiny Fluttershy who perches on my computer and helps me be a better person. Half the jokes and references I make are to FiM (with the occasional 'shoo be doo, shoo shoo be doo' thrown in).
The other half is Homestuck, but that's neither here nor there...
I've actually started applying the 'love and tolerate' philosophy, although I'm still terribad at it. Fluttershy needs to help smooth down my berzerk buttons some.
And, finally, it's gotten to the point where Smile Smile Smile cheers me up more efficiently than almost anything else.
And then there's stuff like the Great to be Different song that just wows me. How are you doing this?
[note: I am not a new poster; I'm just an inactive one. I just keep realizing how much ponies have influenced my life, and I felt like sharing this time.]
