No, because we're in Latin, rather than Spanish. (e.g. male = Julius, female = Julia)

The neutral term would be Vaarsuvium
But for what's it's worth, assigned V to her room at the inn. The wording suggests she's unsure.
But went for male in 654.Quote:
:mitd:: Neatly sidestepped the issue in 651.
This is NOT a gender debate thread. If you want to give your opinion on V's gender (or anyone else's) please keep it in the official tread(s).
This thread is meant to list the other character's opinion on V's gender, by listing how they refer to the elf in the strip. There will be four categories:
-Think of V as male (characters who only ever referred to V as "he")
- Think of V as female (characters who only ever referred to V as "she")
- Don't have an opinion (characters who have used both pronouns)
- Unknown (characters who have never used either pronouns, and whose opinion we don't know.)
Each name will come with a list of quotes and links to the strips. Let's get to work :)
I've been trying and trying to find out v's gender but it's too hard!!!:smallfurious:
Hey, you're in luck! I was just talking to Candle Jack, he told me that V is a
I also have done some independent research into this subject.
After traversing a desert, climbing a mountain, solving three riddles and crossing a burning rope bridge, I finally came to the ancient Zubanese Cave of Knowledge, said to contain every piece of wisdom in the known universe.
There, inscribed on a wall, was the answer. Vaarsuvius is a Glorshague.
As soon as I complete my Zubanese-to-English translator program I will return with more conclusive data.
Ah, but the Zubanese Cave of Knowledge was written in Ancient Xlackponian, who ruled the Zuban region from 600 BC to 100 AD, and only its thirty seven verb tenses and forty eight noun declensions prohibited the Xlackpon Empire from conquering the Earth. :smalltongue:
Uh... V's a dude.
We found that out a long time ago.
In this comic, as I recall:

Unless...
He took it down?!
Curse you, Burlew!
Dude, you've posted 3 times in the official debate thread, surely you've worked out that it is designed to be ambiguous.
That or you're trying to annoy everyone... why not start a love and/or hate Miko thread, and one expecting her return as a blackguard or as she was, we never tire of those
I, also am on a quest to find V's gender.
Or was.
I found it.....but......listen here......I had to go to many towns......interview many dark obscure cults worshiping the things called "The Great Old Ones"
it was a daunting, misty mystery, at the end of which, an unspeakable horror, of which that cannot be described, something so alien that its very existence was wrong, an eldritch abomination tearing at the very sanity of my mind, appeared in front of me and told me V's gender.
........and as soon as I was burdened with the knowledge, my mind cracked, the whole inner workings of the universe opened up before me, and I gone mad from the revelation, going completely insane from the incomprehensible knowledge, knowledge that cannot be put into words, thus my mind unable to take the unimaginable stress, retreated back into the darkness, and thus into sanity, unable to comprehend the answer.
so, yes I did know the answer.....but I advise you never to walk the same road as I did......you probably won't be so lucky......
That's the point, Dude. You're not supposed to know; you can guess what it is. That's it. I wouldn't be surprised if V literally has no gender.
If your humanity is at the breaking point based on a burning question that you didn't have BEFORE you read the series. Go ahead.:smallannoyed:
No.
No we do not.
I tried to find out V's gender also. It didn't work out so well for me.:smallannoyed: I cast commune and asked my deity what V's gender was. My deity instantly fell unconscious. Then, like a ripple effect, all the other Deity's and all the lower plains masters also fell unconscious. Then I took a backlash effect and passed out as well. I woke up one week later. The Gods then combined their magic and made it impossible to speak of V's gender on the upper plains or by magic in any way.:smalleek:
I... think I know it.
But, since I have no proof and since no one here cares or ever cared about my opinion in this matter, [allcaps]I don't start making topics about Vaarsuvius' gender four times a week...[/allcaps]
We need to find it...?
Have you checked under the couch perchance? Things always get lost down there it seems.
One of his kids has inherited everything from him, the passion of magic, the way of speach, everything... Which means he got it from V's genes, and that means V' had to have sex with an opposite gender. So if we can know the gender of V's mate, we can know V's gender. Now I'm going to research for the gender of V's mate.
Vaarsuvius is a figment of your imagination, OOTS has no sixth member.
"There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what Vaarsuvius' gender is, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened."
-Paraphrased Douglas Adams quote.
I consider V a female.
Just because I've taken latin, and a name ending in -us means male.
Thus, considering this isn't a latin name, V must not be a male!
It makes perfect sense!
...Why are you looking at me like that?
Works for me.
I consider V female, because the little imp thinks she is a female. And the imp is hardly ever wrong.
Or V could be male, I dunno. That's what flamewars are for and we haven't gotten to one yet.
