Re: Exclusive... The definitive answer to V's Gender.
I had a theory about V's gender that I thought I would put up here, rather than make another stupid thread for it. It's the most perfect, definative theory there will ever be.
V's a girl, because if V's a girl and Kyrie's a girl, then they would be lesbians, and that would be totally hot. Ergo, that must be the truth.
My logic is infallable. Unless you are a yaoi fangirl.

Re: Exclusive... The definitive answer to V's Gender.
Is there any reason to believe that The-Bird-That-Miss-Starshine-Named even knows V's gender at all? Just because you're a familiar doesn't mean you're THAT familiar.

He's use "watashi", no doubt about that. He's too formal not to.

But see, I think they both look male, with square bodies and everything.

Re: V's Gender (pronouns)
The OP suggested we use these abominations of the english language instead of he, she or it.
Why would the OP suggest it? Because the OP believes it is preferable.
Why would a person believe these words are preferable to he, she or it? Because if, in a real life scenerio... there was a person of unknown gender, and we chose the wrong word, that person might be offended.
In summary, the OP suggested we change the way we speak from something that isn't intended to be offensive and is, in itself, not offensive to some awkward way of saying the exact same thing in order to protect the feelings of those easily offended by nothing. What do we call that, class. Yes, political correctness.
We may have accused of him, but its a perfectly apt accusation.
However, the fact of the matter is the vast majority of the times, its pretty easy to tell whether someone is male or female. These words are unnecessary, ugly, and annoying.

I'm guessing there must be a reason of some kind if V's "progeny" are adopted.
*whistle*
And I wanted to hear the patter of tiny over-elaborative feet.

Gender Change Belts, Varsuuvius and You
Assuming the group still has that Gender Change Belt what would happen if Varsuuvius put it on? Would his/her appearence change at all or would it be drastically different in a way that favored one gender over another therefore finally revealing V's gender.
-
Re: Gender Change Belts, Varsuuvius and You
The belt would get confused and fall apart.
If it did work we see no outward change and V would simply mention that his gender has changed with out saying his current or original gender.
-
Re: Gender Change Belts, Varsuuvius and You
V would go on a very wordy but completely gender neutral rant about his misfortune and probably think it is obvious to everyone else what happened although his outward appearence, voice and mannerisms have not changed in the slightest.

That doesn't really suggest what gender V is, just that Inkyrius might be the same gender.
Or maybe even they don't know what they married, and they adopted because it would be too embarrassing to ask.

When Roy changed, V didn't even notice - not even when everybody was making a big deal about it. "Notice what? That you're wearing a mop on your head??"
So most likely - assuming V fits into the binary at all - V'd keep quiet about it (after all, V's comment to Durkon when leaving the boat indicates that V thinks gender is a private matter and nobody else's business) and we certainly wouldn't see any change.
Alternatively: We would see a change, but it wouldn't match up to our notions of gender/sex any more than V's current appearance does.
-
Re: Gender Change Belts, Varsuuvius and You
Well, V is either a girly guy or a boyish girl. If s/he changed genders, I would expect V to become either a feminine female or a masculine male. Although no change would be more likely for comedic effect.
-
Re: Gender Change Belts, Varsuuvius and You
My bet would be on V growing both boobs and a beard.
-
Re: Gender Change Belts, Varsuuvius and You
V's being wearing it since Roy took it off, since the others in the group can't be trusted with it.
-
Re: Gender Change Belts, Varsuuvius and You
V's appearance would change significantly, but remain just as androgynous.
-
Re: Gender Change Belts, Varsuuvius and You
Not this thread again, surely...
If elves have the usual male-female binary sex options, then the belt would change V to whatever gender he isn't. If elves have a different set of sexes, then it would either have no effect, or do something strange as it tried to apply its gender-reversing curse.
Appearance-wise, who knows? From what we saw of the Belt, it doesn't affect hair, and V's robes are shapeless enough to hide the appearance or disapeparance of mammaries fairly easily.

Quoted for Relative Comedy

Re: Gender Change Belts, Varsuuvius and You
I would predict no change at all, with none of the OotS noticing.
-
Re: Gender Change Belts, Varsuuvius and You
It would be a twisted mirror of their previous experience. V would put it on, gasp in shock, act all dramatic about how humiliating it is, and then Belkar would say 'What change?' V replies 'Huh' and the situation passes

My bet is that it would do a full array of changes, causing a complete revision of gender-based visual traits, personality and voice tone.
Which would leave V exactly as it is.

I can think of at least two that still allow the two of them to be a hetero couple.

Re: Gender Change Belts, Varsuuvius and You
I'd actually love for The Giant to have V put on the belt, and then show no visible signs of change.
Just think of the effect it would have on these threads! Every time there is the slightest bit of "evidence" concerning V's gender, people shout from the mountaintops that they have figured it out.
If V switches sexes all the people who think that V's a male will now have to start searching for evidence that "he" is now female to prove that they were right all along. And vice versa.
Even better, Rich could reveal that V had been wearing the belt for some time, and hadn't mentioned until now.
Then, instead of just saying which gender they think V is, people will have to argue about which gender V is now, which before, and at what point the actual transition occurred.
The internet will collapse!!! Bwahahahaha!
