Re: League of Legends XXIV: Today's Noob Strat, Tomorrow's New Meta
So, I have a jungle question.
I was soloqueueing Udyr last night and had easily my worst game since I made level 30. I got a "leash" at blue, which gave graves half of the xp that should have gotten me level 2. Not great, but workable. Jungle continues and all 3 lanes are feeding like bosses. I try a level 5 gank after invading blue jungle and forcing their udyr to back, giving our Twitch an assists and clearing up top lane. At this point, all three lanes of my lanes have been killed at least once with no ganks coming from their jungle. At 15 minutes, I'm 0/1/1 and the score is 2 to 17 kills, with top and bottom towers down.
The question is, how could I have fixed it? It seems that there's a weakness in my jungling when it comes to ganking, but I'm not sure how to gank more without getting behind the xp curve (or feeding).

What was your build? Tiger or Phoenix, Runes, Masteries? A big advantage to Phoenix Udyr is that he clears his jungle so absurdly quickly (with either no items at all or even just Wit's End) that he often has time in which he can't do anything but invade or gank.
However, if every single one of your lanes fail, that means that every single one of your laners failed. You can't blame yourself for that. Sometimes people just get outplayed, and while junglers offer a great deal to an organized team, they can only do so much

Re: League of Legends XXIV: Today's Noob Strat, Tomorrow's New Meta
Just played a really awesome game. I swear that I get BETTER at this game when I don't play it for a couple days. Those were the best timed Janna shields I have ever landed. (On the other hand, pretty much all my Janna ULTS were pretty bad :smalltongue:)
Anyways, it looks like I have worn out the right mouse button on yet another mouse.
This will be the 5th mouse that I have worn out playing LoL. I click far too much. Though I have not measured it, I am sure that I have over 200 APM from my constant right clicking alone. I click somewhere between 3 and 4 times a second. Wears out mice pretty quickly.

What Shen's strength is is his midgame. Midgame, you have a Wriggle's that gives you infinite sustain alongside Vorpal Blade heals, so you roam the jungle and farm lanes forever until someone gets in trouble, and then you are where trouble is instantly. Afterwards, you don't even need to return to heal, just go back into the jungle. Lategame you're still reduced to splitpushing with a Sunfire Cape though. This makes Shen kind of meh - meh early game, awesome midgame, meh late game is not "good enough".
Honestly I've never found Shen's late game bad. Course I'm weird and tend to build Warmogs last, happily letting Frozen mallet provide for my hp bar, tend not to complete wriggles either. If anything that holds Shen down it's the utter uselessness of Feint and his Taunt's energy costs.

Amateur. I will make you my padawan, and show you the true power of clicking. :smalltongue:
That said, consider the Razer brand of mouse...I'm probably the most excessive clicker GitP has (at least in League), and this mouse has proved pretty indestructible. I have the Razer Naga, but the Death Adder is basically the Naga minus about 12 buttons, and is quite a bit cheaper. If you're really abusive on your mice, I'd recommend it, 'cause I ran through mouse buttons on almost a monthly basis prior to picking up the Naga.

Why do people do all that rapid-clicking on a spot?

In case there's latency or the click gets dropped. So, just spam clicking, and it's almost guaranteed that one of those fifteen clicks will go through.
Or if you're like my friend and he played Diablo I where you had to right-click constantly to attack.

Leaving class now, but I'll explain this in about half an hour, 'cause I figure people ARE curious as to why I go crazy on my poor mouse.
It's not (in my case) for the reason Joran mentioned.

Re: League of Legends XXIV: Today's Noob Strat, Tomorrow's New Meta
I personally never really handled a Razer mouse peripheral that really felt right to me. Too light, not comfortable in my hand, etc.
I work from home and play games in my leisure, and my Logitech G400 has lasted me a long, long time, now, has left me with no complaints as far as performance, and was fairly inexpensive as gaming mice go.
Might have something to do with how I use my mouse though - I don't generally move my arm or wrist a lot. I generally hold my mouse between my thumb and my ring finger, and move it like that.

Basically it's a control thing, allowing you to change your pathing to adjust to the situation.

I use camera lock (cue four pages of people telling me I'm wrong) and clicking the same spot for me (though I don't do it as fast as some people) is a way of keeping me moving in the same direction. Otherwise, I'll be clicking to kite around.

That's messed up; the player(s) leashing for you should never be hanging around long enough to get XP from it. It sucks XP from the jungler and means they're missing farm and XP from the minions in the lane. Just bad all around.
For the other stuff.. there probably wasn't anything you could do that would salvage it. Whichever lane made up the majority of that 17 kills probably fed their opposite enough to make it irrecoverable. Still, I'd say.. figure out which of your laners is failing the least. Watch for opportunities to gank for him; if you're fed and he's fed you might be able to stabilize the situation to hold against the over-fed enemy and eventually get everybody else farmed as well (although you'll be in for a long game if you do; playing defense against an enemy that can't quite push to seal the win gets you money and XP very, very quickly.) Look for chances to watch a lane- if somebody has to back or gets killed, go over to that lane and farm the creep until he gets back (especially if there's a spot where a creep wave is up to your tower.. get up there and Phoenix them out of the way for a quick shot of cash and XP.) And just deal with being behind in XP, mostly; junglers usually are unless you manage a lot of ganks that result in kills.

The new champion is hauling ass in jungle. Anyways, add me on Eastern European server: UrQuan
E: Logitech mice rule. I'm using a bargain G3 even though I'm right handed. Paid it less than 20 euro on a mega-store closing day.

Re: League of Legends XXIV: Today's Noob Strat, Tomorrow's New Meta
I start rwrwe then either pump turtle/bear or turtle/tiger depending on what the team comps are. wriggles-boots-HoG-negatron/chainmail are my usual base item, occasionally wit's end instead of the basic resist item.
I did clear my whole jungle and then invade the other udyr's, almost killed him when I found him at his wolves.
It may just be udyr since I kinda main him, but I find myself attempting ganks pretty often, and just having people run away from me. Especially when I'm playing premades with people above my current elo.

Logitch Mice actually feel too heavy for me these days. I used to swear by Logitech mice, but three of the mice I have worn out were Logitech.

Pincering ganks OP. :smalltongue:
(Call for CV on the sidelane brush when you gank if that's how they're gaining space to run)
Phoenix Udyr doesn't really need Wriggle's.

Funny everyone's mentioning 'bout the mouses. My mouse just wore out from over LoL, and it WAS a Logitech. I liked the mouse though, its battery would last like for almost half the year before I had to exchange it. My new mouse is Logitech too, but that's just 'cause it was cheap n' there wasn't much else to choose from.

Probably couldn't have changed that loss into a win but may or may not have been able to make your individual game better. If you went Phoenix, this would have been easier, as you would be able to farm camps (as well as clear minion waves) faster, meaning, while your team doesn't have a lead in kills, you can get a lead in farm. This may have lead to your build being a bit more complete and you doing overall better in the game.
About the mouses 'n stuff, I just have a standard Dell mouse. I have been using it in Dota and LoL play for around 3 years now and it still doesn't seem like it's wearing out. Maybe it's because I don't click that much :/

Same here. And the Razer mouse I've got feels much lighter than a Logitech as well.

Alright. Several reasons.
An important one is that it gives me more precise control. LoL is programmed to move a character from point A to point B in as few straight lines as possible (and as little distance), but it won't always give you an efficient route. Manually inputting the movement points makes you less predictable, can make getting from point A to point B take less time, and gives you more control in any given fight.
Another is the fact that the auto-attacking animations suck (and, for ranged characters, hold you in place). Moving BETWEEN every attack gives you infinitely more control of any given fight, especially when you're playing a character with ranged auto-attacks.
Further, constantly clicking means I have to be constantly aware of the situation around me. I find it helps focus me on the game, and keeps my reactions higher than they would be otherwise.
Lastly, human muscles have a warm-up time, and a constantly litany of clicking helps negate that disadvantage. It works the same way as dodging things: if you're standing perfectly still and I throw a ball at your head, it will be harder for you to dodge than if you were poised and shifting your weight from foot to foot in preparation for action. Since I have a constant 4-5 clicks per second when I'm in an exposed position, my reaction time to any given thing is encompassed within the next click or two, putting it at around .2 seconds or less (yes, I am that fast...reaction tests for fencing have proven this). That's from visual cue to physical action, and the reaction time you have decreases if you have to pause to warm-up muscle groups, even though it only takes a fraction of a second.
So I actually do have a good reason for it.

Stutter-step doesn't that much APM, at least not in LoL. Stutter-stepping stimmed marines in SC2, for example, takes about twice as much clicking, and yet I find that even that pales when compared to your click spamming.

Because constant control of every single action your character does wins fights.
I'm pretty much always clicking when I play League of Legends . . . its just how the game works.
Also: I had... I think a Logitech mouse, then I lost it, now I have a cheap Logitech that is terrible, but what I do know is that pretty much all of the LoL teams got sponsored by Razor and use Deathadders. I'm not sure if Elementz said he likes his or not (something about... lag?) but I know Regi likes his.

Re: League of Legends XXIV: Today's Noob Strat, Tomorrow's New Meta
So I'm trying out this "ranked" business. Did 6 games so far, 3-3. One loss occured when I lost mid to a really good Xerath who sealed the deal by picking up blue each time from his jungler. Two losses were disconnects on my team, one right off the bat and the other when we were up two towers, a dragon, and like 5 kills. On the flipside, each win was me playing jungle Lee Sin, there were no disconnects on the opponent's team, but each win was a steamroll.
Anyway, I try a game today 30minutes ago. First attempt looks good, we're all locked in, about to start... our taric dodges. Second attempt, I 1st pick jungle Lee Sin, 4th pick autolocks xin zhao when we needed a ranged ap. Another dodge. Third attempt, I 1st pick jungle lee again, 2nd and 3rd autolock ezreal + vayne. Another dodge. Fourth attempt, EXACT same thing as the third attempt happens, and another dodge! Fifth attempt.. Somebody didn't connect to character select. Sixth attempt, everyone tells me to ban karthus, so I do, then somebody says "@#$# WHY WOULD YOU BAN HIM I WANTED TO PLAY HIM!" and dodges.
At this point I leave queue.

Re: League of Legends XXIV: Today's Noob Strat, Tomorrow's New Meta
I am curious: Is there any software out there to measure APM and such? Would be cool to get actual numbers to boast with
I am sure there is something out there. I suspect the SCII players may know (they seem to more readily put numbers to their APM)

Last hitting in Co-op duo lanes is annoying because the bots have no concept of CSing. That said, Overdrive and Power Fist should make last hitting pretty easy in a pinch, and ult farming is acceptable with the low cooldown.
