Furude Setsuna
Setsuna nods, and, with another wave of her hand, she closes the illusion. "Well, foie gras is a rather exotic food, so I can't be sure that she has any. You could still look, if you're hungry."
She hesitates, then brightens. Reaching into her pouch, she moves her hand around for several seconds, searching for something. A look of triumph crosses her face as she pulls out a peach and hands it to Sera with a hopeful smile. "Here you go senpai! I kept it from earlier. Do you want it?"

"GASP!"
Her attention is immediately drawn to her Most Amicable Companion for Eternity (MACE) and the most succulent and delicious treat she holds. She places her hands on it, lovingly caressing it with her gloved fingers. Sera places another kiss on Furude's cheek.
"Thank you, Fu-kun! Oh, how I love peaches. The peaches of immortality whose fruit is the heart and leaf is the tongue. Words spoken by such a thing are truly from the heart!"

Dot licks her lips, and rummages in her pack. She brings out a copy of the ancient scroll of prophesy, and a small flask. This could get long and complicated, and be thirsty work.

Dot nods sympathetically and steps hesitantly into the broader conversation. Her mental voice dry and analytical as ever.
"Well, yes. Not so much a cult in opposition to the first, but one whose tenets seem to be fumbling towards a more fluid and all-encompassing vision of love. Not entirely unlike what we have been trying to achieve here.
"Ladies, if you don't mind, I'll try to be quick about what's been going on these last few weeks, and then we can take questions. "
She conjures an image in the air, which grows and expands out and up to take over much of the upper part of the room. A slightly cheesy popular song, occasionally hummed by Melinda in their travels and now expanded out into a lusher orchestration, underpins the visuals.
Initially, the image forms of nine women: Melinda, Taleira, Dot, and six others, including a succubus and an Amazon.
"Initially, we were simply summoned to participate in the game of the cups, as representatives of the three goddesses, choosing to. Work together."
The image above poor idea a sped up montage of the challenges and discoveries of the game, culminating in the freeing of the priestesses from the black sword. As Dot narrates, it moves on to the appearance of the Goddesses themselves, the division of the company into two groups. Battles in New Kord and the Ciry of Gardens. Shenanigans with dwarves. Chasing rubies. A spectacular horse race. An interlude in Sigil. The rapid appearance and departure of devotees from the company, complete with name plates and brief snatches of remembered conversation. It shifts to a mysterious extra planar library, a pitched battle against a marilith, and a showdown of the gods. The prophet Cassiopeia appears, and then seems to fade into a wall of light. Melinda appears out of that light, swathed in new symbols and tattoos. There is a moment of exultation, a tumble down to earth with an arrow in her back, and then a lifting up, embraced by Friday, who appears suddenly.
Several times over the course of the presentation, a grand scaled version of the scrolls of prophesy appear. Each time, new snatches of text appear. Dot concludes the presentation by providing large scale texts for those portions of the prophesy that are currently visible, but do not seem to have been adequately sought out and addressed.
"So there's a woman who isn't a woman, and we need to find my former lover. To find out, I suppose, among other things, how former he is."
The image wavers, and reveals a short, muscular man dressed in a simple pair of black pants. His bare feet and large hands end in delicate claws. His skin is black and gleaming. The vestigial nubs of horns stick out from a spiky shock of thick black hair. The man winks and smiles. The image wavers and dissolves, the music fading quickly to silence. Dot seems to disappear into herself for a moment before taking a breath and turning to Melinda.
"I miss anything?"

OOC: It was not spoken out loud, but broadcast through the ruby necklace. I believe one of them was given to Sword. Although I could be wrong. Either way, it went to Atareth and since she is hooked into rubynet, it went party wide. Normally, the PC can keep certain thoughts out of rubynet, but since Sword likes sugarcubes, he wanted his feelings known to all. This next one is spoilered, for Atareth alone.

She (Katarina) made an appearance when Dot did the light display to celebrate the crowning of Melinda as the First of the Three. As well, if you think back to the Belmont, there was a second woman with Casandra when she came to visit you in the stable, pre-race. She wasnt identified at the time, but they are one in the same. Apart from that, you havent really heard of her, but research/questioning could solve that.

"Thank you, Your Holiness." Taleira offers a courteous bow to Tishtina II before following Melinda out.
Once away, however, she speaks up again, aloud this time. "Did I miss something? You and Dot both seem to know about this other cult thing, and I'm assuming Katarina is the second high priestess. Given how hard it is to keep a secret in close company like this, I'm wondering how I haven't heard about it before now." Despite the nature of the question, Tali's tone isn't accusatory. If anything, she sounds curious.
-
Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
Dot shrugs, pondering what to say about the not/woman.
"I think that it's fair to say that we've chatted about a lot of options - from those who are trans-gendered, to shapechangers. I don't believe that ships have been mentioned before, at least not while I was a part of the conversation. Nothing seems to have twigged with our research, but I suspect we've simply not hit on the right course of action.
"As for Harlan...we were together for about two years. He's a priest of Sabrina, and pretty good at it. Very good at somethings. Almost exactly a year ago, he vanished from our home, along with several custom-crafted objets d'arcana. Several of my companions have been to my home, and I assure you, it's not the easiest place to find, get to...or leave without my knowing. After he disappeared, any efforts I'd made to learn about him or his actions, either using personal contacts, conjured assistance or magic,
were turned aside. It was...disconcerting. I am not easily taken by surprise, after all. I still don't know whether he left and retreated to some kind of powerful ally who shielded him, or was taken by force. The fact that he appears tangentially in the prophesy, potentially as one who will 'live' in contrast to Cassiopeia who 'died', suggests that he is the latter - held somewhere against his will.
"With all of the events of the past few weeks, I've foregone my periodic searching. Perhaps it's time to open my heart, and my magic, to this again."
Her mental voice trails off towards the end, and it's clear that she's lost in her own thoughts.

None of what I'm saying is true. Listen to what I feel. This is true. I do this for her protection.
You remember when first I showed up wearing Tishtina's symbol? How I said I'd consulted with an elder Tishtinite priestess? Well Katarina's not just any old elder Tishtinite. She's powerful and secretive, and she's been shadowing this group ever since the Cups, and she is of equal spiritual rank to Cassandra. I don't know how that's possible. I hoped to get an answer about this from Tishtina the younger, but she wasn't forthcoming.
As for why you haven't heard, why I haven't told you? Do you really want to know?
I didn't tell you because I wanted you for myself, Tali. And I still do. And because I still don't understand what it is about a fool like me that you love. I've been with her, Tali, I have some sense of what she's capable of doing, of being. I made myself the golden rose she wears, because I respect her so much.
If you had her, Tali, you wouldn't need me. I'm afraid she could take you away from me. Moreover, I fear that she would do such a thing, to control me, or to control us both.
But you two should talk. It might be the best next step for you, as it apparently is for Lia. Katarina has a necklace - it should be easy.
Forgive me. Please.
"No, no," begins Melinda aloud. "Catherine Jhelain is an old friend of mine. I guess she goes by Katarina now, because they don't have 'th's in her corner of the world. Back before either of us had any reputation at all, we used to do gigs at the coffee shop I showed you, and there might have been fifteen people listening to us on a good night. I would play the drums for her, and then she'd play the oud for me."
"Those were good old days, you know. ..." Melinda will blather on with made-up old stories about this fake friend of hers, drawn from a mish-mash of her real friend Eleint, her intimate knowledge of Varstok's establishments, and her own gut, for as long as it takes the two of them to get to Coquika's sanctuary. Being that there is at least one Silescian informant unaccounted for, it's worth it.

Sera takes a look at Furude. She decides it's not time to be resting, as much as she would love it to be. Something has piqued her interest.
"Dot, can you describe the arcane apparatus that Harlan disappeared with? Being custom made may mean that they are unique and their function unknown, but they worry me. Magic can be a dangerous thing..."

Coquika
Coquika brushes her toes in the sand for a little while. To Dot she offers,
"There is a lawn outside where you can have some peace while you think and cast."
She points outside the pavilion to a patch of cool grass that gradually vanishes around its edges into diffuse, shadowy walls; clearly the edge of her domain.
"...But I was hoping," she licks her lips, to no apparent point except nervous reflex, "That you might share a little more of the time when you met the Goddess." There is a pleading note in her voice... but then she shakes her head, abruptly.
"Ah! But that can wait. That can wait. Please, do whatever magic you think will help but," she sighs, "I've never known destiny to be laid bare by the Art."
She glances then, sharply, at the mouthy parrot.
"Mm? What is this beast?" Coquika rises to her feet and strolls slowly towards the bird's perch, her movements slow and liquid, like a green panther. She studies the thing with blank green eyes for a few moments, and then, "Ah, I see. You are bold to mock me in my own house... but I see that courage and a little brazen wit is all you are, aside from your desires. But really, we should be friends, beast! We are comrades in longing," She smiles, almost beatifically, and adds "...except that you glut on sour beer while I still dream of nectar."

Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
Furude Setsuna
With a slight stretching, Setsuna reluctantly disentangles herself from Sera. She places her hands together to form a sort of circle and begins to speak with her eyes closed in a rather carefree, rambling style, almost to herself, but obviously expecting some sort of feedback.
"If this Harlan has truly been taken against his will, it is quite likely that, considering the enemies you have faced so far, he is protected by something at least as powerful as a sequester spell, perhaps even more powerful. If he has left of his own accord, it is likely that one of his custom-made magic items protects him from divinations and/or that he has found an ally with epic or deific magic capable of blocking your spells."
She opens her eyes and looks up, her voice somewhat normalizing. "In either case, it seems rather futile to continue divinations until we have something of sufficient power to penetrate any of these theoretical obstacles. Of course, if we attempt mundane searching, it becomes a game of both luck and skill, and I cannot predict any way to definitively succeed beyond just sheer numbers and time, both of which I doubt we have in the quantities necessary."
"But I may be missing something," confesses Setsuna as she tilts her head to one side. "The precise magics involved in the missing items may be critical to our quest. Please, do tell of their composition."
-
Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
"I join Coquika's plead. This meet with you and the goddess are, to say the least, breathtaking! You met the goddess thenselves, c'mon! You simply have to share this unique moment with the rest of us. May one day I have this opportunity you had.
Oh, and don't worry about Oscar, Coquika. He's smart and will learn in time that the girls here aren't like the girls he's used to see. Many times people threatened his life for less and he promptly shut up."
Oscar, however, seems to shift his interest to the goddess as soon as Coquika mentioned them, ignoring everything else she said later. He is absent minded, I characteristic he borrowed from his master and help him exercise his active mind in times of loneliness. As a rule of thumb, he is either spewing jokes, blabberings and trying to look witty, or his mind is far away, just like now. In fact, you can hear him thinking out loud.
"Wooohh, goddess. This seems fancy. I wonder if there's a macaw god, or goddess. I bet it looks super baddass, something like fires coming out of feathers and stuff. No, not fire, that's just phoenix ripoff. Now that puzzle me, we macaws have no religion. Boy, what a mind blow! Blah blah blah, blah blah blah..."
His voice is gradually vanishing as his thoughs gets deeper and deeper (and pointless).

Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
Seraciel
She is disappointed in Furude removing herself, but Sera nods in agreement. "Your thoughts mirror mine exactly. Except for one thing. If they needed him for something, Sequester would be a bad spell to use. If they need him unconscious, a Private Sanctum would be sufficient and more useful, and it would not keep them from employing Domination or similiar mind-affecting effects. Otherwise, why not just kill him?
And if he left willingly, a Mindblank would do a fine job in preventing divination, as well as working with him as he travels.
Perhaps the arcane implement that disappeared with him are not being protected. If we could locate them rather than him, it could be a decent lead. If a Sequester is involved, it's useless to him or his captors. A Private Sanctum would need to be recast for each new location. If a Nondetection is being used, it could be penetrated with a strong enough diviner."

Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
Dot settles into a slightly stiff cross-legged position to continue the chat, managing to look both serene and awkward, all at the same time.
"As for descriptions of the goddesses, I will leave that to the poets among us. I am a businesswoman, and have found the experience frightening and unsettling, to be honest. As flies to wonton boys, and such.
The items that vanished? Well, two of them were starmetal tripods of my own design, created to focus and intensify the energies between planes in order to make the flow of materials and people between worlds easier. They had only been completed a few weeks before, in Sigil.
"The third is less clear to me. A brass mirror, liberated from the estate of an efreet noble in Kaliuk, on the plane of fire. It had just been acquired at the specific request of a client, the nobleman Freidreich Glephstein in Janeira. He was annoyed but not violent when I told him that the item had been found, then vanished again. Naturally, I suspected Glephstein, but both mundane and magical searching, and an extensive subliminal exhortation, was enough to convince me that he had nothing to do with Harlan's disappearance."
She leaned back against the tree, glancing between Sera and Furude.
"Naturally, when searching for Harlan, I also searched magically for the magics, as well as the pyjamas he was wearing that last night."
She shook her head.
"But, as I said, it's been a while. Perhaps something new will turn up."

The brass mirror however..." she trails off as a thought occurs to her. "Could we, by chance, ask this Glephstein-san about the mirror? It's properties and magic and so on and so forth?"
With an embarrassed chuckle, Setsuna glances at Sera. "And yet again, senpai can find my errors... But senpai is senpai, and you've always studied more than me." "Yes, I am made of starmetal. I have, indeed, spent some time locating starmetal in the past. All I ever searched for was raw ore. To assume that I am somehow attuned to all starmetal, raw or wrought, is either very ignorant or very..."
She lapses into celestial briefly,
and I cannot tell which you are being, if not both. Understand that I am not a gifted diviner. If Peridot, our gifted Sister, cannot find them with the Art, then I can no more find the starmetal tripods than you can innately find this Harlan just because you are both made of meat."
She shakes her head, and then lapses into silence and stillness.

Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)
"Weak point, Coquika. I'm made of meat, yes, but I'm not addicted to it. I don't depend on finding priests, following your example of Harlam, like you depend on finding starmetal to satiate your addiction.
I was neither ignorant nor catty - I understand celestial, by the way, can't really conjure creatures so well without knowing it. I just assumed that, if you are addicted to something, you better develop skills to find it. If you are addicted but no better to find it than me, this whole starmetal thing ends up sounding more like a curse than a bless."
She says that not only to Coquika, but also to Seraciel regarding the therm "detector". Selena is not versed in the ways of the starmetal and the art of embodying it, so her doubts are honest. The lack of patience and self sense of superiority of Coquika annoys a little, to the point that she kind of like when Oscar calls her "Conchita".
"Hehehe, she called you catty, then? Oh, you evil enchantress!"
Says Oscar, who was oblivious to whatever was said in celestial, to his own good.

Seraciel
"You are more dependent on certain things than you realize, Selena."
She buries her face into Furude's hair, and finally decides to address her companion's statements.
"Of course, I have had to study really hard to get anything done. A Wizard with a Masters in Abjuration doesn't get anywhere without knowing her subject, does she? I've picked up large amount of information along the way, as you know.
As for the mistake, all of my information is second hand at this point. I wish I were present at the time of his disappearance. I might have been able to pick up on some important information then."

Furude Setsuna
"If you, or indeed, if any of us, were present his disappearance, we probably could have stopped him." Setsuna says somewhat regretfully. With a sigh, she shrugs slightly and latches onto Sera's arm. "Ah well. No use wondering on what-ifs. We just need to run with the information we have and do the best we can."
