I propose a new vote that this joke be taken out and shot.

New page, new reminder there's a vote going on:

- Please avoid discussing the quote itself, outside of giving an explanation for your vote in the same post as your vote. This'll make it easier to catch up after the vote, if a new quote comes along while we're still voting.
- Per Rule F4, inclusion by vote requires a quote to have two more votes in favor than votes against.
Voting will be open until March 13th, 8PM EDT EST? Eastern Time.

Tie not. Banjo or Banjo not, there is no tie.
(Per Rule F4, a quote with two or more votes in favor than votes against is included, otherwise the quote is excluded; there are no vote scenarios that result in a tie)

I second your seconding. Don't really care what happens to the quote, but this joke needs to be put out of its misery.

I vote No to including the quote.

Yes to include the scroll activation mishap quote.

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments V―On a Saner Forum, We Wouldn't Need this Index
OK.
All three entries are now in the Index.
Now then, on the subject of deletions....The tentative list is below. I don't really want to start a vote on the weekend, and it turns out I misunderstood people about the V's Children entry (so that one's not on the list); so if anyone has anything to add at this point, now's the time. Ideally we'll get a vote on removals started some time tomorrow.
There hasn't been much movement on the subject of codifying removal procedures, so I have to assume it's not a great concern. So as it stands, it'll be run the same way I did the last removal: Each quote will be voted on, with the same two-more-votes-in-favor threshold to keep it as they took to be included in the first place.

Should we include his comments on the fake Kickstarter scam?

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments V―On a Saner Forum, We Wouldn't Need this Index
Definitely not--it's not related to the strip or the plotlines within, and only has a tangential relationship to OotS as a whole. It's specifically the sort of thing we're not supposed to be putting in the index, therefore.

Exactly. The closest aspect in the entire thing is the lack of any marketing companies being involved with the Kickstarter, which has nothing to do with the comic itself. As such, it fails to qualify under Rule B and thus isn't Index-worthy.

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments V―On a Saner Forum, We Wouldn't Need this Index
I think it has a place in the Supporting the strip section. At least one person has given them money, presumably thinking they were helping support the strip. The Giant's tweets warn that they have no connection with him, and you won't support the strip by giving them money.

While I support the idea of people not getting scammed, the Giant could have made a large news post of the main page, a stickied thread, or any number of other highly visible warnings about it. He did not. If you believe we should shoulder some responsibility to notify people of the potential for scam, you could always start a new thread for it, or sig it, but trying to shoehorn it into a thread where it doesn't belong is not the right approach, IMO.
Also, as far as my understanding, nobody has given money under the assumption that they were supporting the strip; the bait is that they will help get more exposure for the target's own kickstarter. It requires a rather large mental leap to assume that in any way would support the strip, even under the assumption that the scamming company is legit.

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments V―On a Saner Forum, We Wouldn't Need this Index
Not to break up the conversation on the applicability of Rule B, but I've got official-esque stuff to get started.
CALLING FOR CONFIRMATION VOTE ON MULTIPLE QUOTES
The inclusion of the posts below have been challenged. This vote will determine whether they remain in the Index or not.
The quotes are as follows:
Since we've had confusion on this before, the vote will be for which ones to keep, rather than yes or no. Simply vote "keep" for the quotes you support keeping; you don't have to mention ones you want removed (though you can vote "remove" on them if you prefer). If you want to make my job difficult really don't care about particular quotes, you can vote "no opinion" on those.
You can vote individually ("Keep A, Keep C") or in a group ("Keep B, D, E"). "Keep all" is also a valid vote, as is "Remove all". ("No opinion on all" would be the same as not voting.)
- Please bold your vote, it'll make it easier for me to notice when I go through and count everything.
- The usual suggestion to avoid discussing quotes during the vote does not apply in this case.
- Per Rule F4, inclusion by vote requires a quote to have two more votes to keep than votes to remove.
Voting will be open until March 16th, 9PM EDT.
