For the love of Celestia, Twilight, you really need to stop giving other ponies ideas like that. It never ends well.

Pinkie, you do realize that if you spent time with AJ or RD instead of spending time timing yourself so that you could spend time with AJ and RD at the same time, it would solve the problem without the magical misadventures, right?

Ah, right. Don't mind me then.

Re: My Little Pony LVI:S Has Left the Playground!
An observation of pony pairs... not that kind.
It seems like the series has been wanting to play sets of ponies off of each other. Rarity and AJ are the hard-working ones that manage to get in trouble by getting too much work and half-truths, but they both of very different views on social etiquette. Twilight and Pinkie make the "Dexter's Lab" pair where you have the bookish genius confounded by a bright but almost alien intellect.
Then why Fluttershy and Dash? They don't seem similar enough for their differences to have much weight. I theorize that trying to answer this has lead to the path of least resistance for the community: Shipping.

Also, take that! My Little Pony is topping Doctor Who by three hundred votes!
It isn't, unfortunately. You have to acquire it through other channels.
But oh man, Mako was awesome. Aku? An expy of Milton Friedman on the West Wing? UNCLE MOTHERBUCKIN' IROH? And that barely even scratched the surface of the guy's career. The guy was acting all the way back to the 50s.
As for other shows that disappeared for a long time and came back stronger, what about Star Trek? The gap between TOS and TNG was pretty substantial.
And if Star Wars 7 is good we can put that one up there too.

Yeah, the game needs to come with a warning label that it'll suck ALL your time away. It is nice that it can be modded though. Changing your Race image and flag is pretty simple.

There's also whenever they need to convince someone to do "X" we have a lovely set up of Good Cop/Bad Cop. For example, in Secret of My Excess when they tried convincing Spike to put Rarity down.

Wooo! I finished another one-shot story today, sans editing which will have to wait. Well, kind of a one-shot, since it'll probably end up as a kind of series of short stories, but ... whatever, it's done! And it's been on my to-do list for a LONG time!

Teehee. I always loved that function in GalCiv 2. Never mind that I usually gimped myself by taking the "Magical" Planet Quality trait. (+30% usable tiles in game terms. Not very useful in the early game where you might be outclassed very badly.) But I feel it's just appropriate for ponies.

Re: My Little Pony LVI:S Has Left the Playground!
Gotta say, upon rewatching the premiere again I think I've isolated my absolute favourite moment in the episode. Surprisingly it's not a song, nor a scene of particular action or humour.
It's just that quick moment at the end when Twilight gives a relieved "Good job, Spike"
I don't know why, maybe it's the BGM or the timing or something, but it gets me right in the feels.

Minor New Episode Spoiler:

So Nana Pinkie. My first thought was did they retcon Granny Pie? My second thought was everypony has two grandmother's, duh. So Granny Pie taught her how to sing and face her fears and Nana Pinkie taught her all kinds of obscure stories and legends that happen to be true. Nana Pinkie is probably how Pinkie Pie knew about the parasprites as well. Since Nana Pinkie is probably two for two if Twilight learns about her she'll probably want Pinkie Pie to tell her every story so they can be written down for future use.

I prefer the extended chorus version. Pure, triple-distilled catchiness.
EDIT: Actually, now I can't decide

Dash and Fluttershy do have a certain commonality as pegasi. It doesn't come up a ton since they have very different personalities, but it's clear that they share knowledge of Cloudsdale and scenes like Fluttershy acting as the cheering section in Sonic Rainboom imply pretty strongly that they share a certain natural understanding not available to the other 4.

I saw that series. I hope my local comic shop picks them up, I'm trying to patronize them rather than order online.

If anything, delicately speaking, shown her salespony skills sucked? :smallwink:
But then again, she didn't do very good job keeping curious ponies away, so it still sorta fits

It's interesting to see Pinkie by herself. She's usually complementing the rest of the group. She's had alone time before, like in Party of One, but here she's not being crazy, she's going on her own adventure. It's kinda neat.

They were both pushed hard in their youth. They both went to flight school. They both failed. They reacted very differently.

You're touching on my biggest worry for this story. See, because my Twilight isn't really ShowTwilight, I need these opening scenes to show the reader what she is like. Set the stage, establish characters, start up long-running plots, those sorts of things. Unfortunately, that also means we're three chapters in and just barely getting to the meat of the story. And even the meat of the story, if you'll remember some of the chats we've had about it, is going to be a slow boil anyway. I'd say I should make this intro sequence shorter, but I just don't know what to cut. Maybe I should re-focus, re-write, get a better grasp of what makes these characters worth following, something to get more bang with less buck in these chapters? I honestly don't know, and that really worries me.
Thanks for looking this over, another pair of eyes is always appreciated.

I'm actually concerned that show Twilight is becoming increasingly social and close to her friends due to Character Growth - and that's going to blur some perceptions in people's heads.
I don't think anything needs to be cut, but I do think your next move has to be a good one. I think three chapters to fully set the scene and premise is about right but something needs to happen in the next one. Some... acceleration. The results of the ritual, perhaps, could be an extremely debilitating long-term illness or the beginning of Twilight's mental degeneration rather than just 'wake up fine with a lecture from the Princess'.
