Van Maanen's Star:
OOC: You haven't talked with them enough to find out there history yet, but basically you offered to merge them into your company and take control of them. And in return you offered them something they don't really need. This isn't just a few mining stations cut off from the rest of the galaxy. It's an entire faction of miners. There are thousands of mining ships just in your sensor range alone.

And on that note you would estimate that they probably rate as +/+++ defensive wise.

Wolf 359:
During the warp travel the scientists on board the ship analysis the data collected during the retreat and eventually present there report to the captain. Although large the dreadnought appears to have little maneuverability, and as such they believe two or three well armed ships equipped with at least +++++ +++++ ++ worth of weaponry would be able to defeat it.

Upon emerging from warp the exploration ship is immediately shaken and thrown off course. The crew immediately has flashbacks to their recent experiences in the Lalande system, but fortunately the shaking soon stops and damage reports indicate that the ship suffered only minimal damage. Of note though is the fact that they do not appear to be the first ones here. Sensors indicate that there is an Ascension Coalition ship already in system. It appears to be attempting to reach the inner system, but it's course is very erratic.

A closer analysis of the debris reveals that debris is actually quite recent only a few decades old at most. A structural analysis of the debris combined with some orbital modeling also reveals that the ship it came from was most likely moved out of orbit and deposited somewhere else.
