The sword is not the only such spell that ignores armor, however, dodge, dex, deflection and other defenses still apply. Which is not the case for all or even close to all spells. I can give you a similar scale example if you would like. Also, the blade itself is made of force, the ranged attack made using the spells effect is not.
Force spells should not ignore armor. Magic missile is a 'special' spell to give low level wizards an attack spell.

Why would not a magical force be deflected by a physical barrier? Do you somehow think that 'force' = 'phase through solid matter'. And if 'force' did go right through armor, why would it not go right through the creature. You will note that other force spells don't ignore armor.

If you want wildly powerful spells, then they are fine.
