The three elves are here, unless they were asked to leave. They are both ex-slaves, and know what Brianna's regeneration feels like. Though I don't recall whether they got anything for the pain. They couldn't ask for it, and weren't aware it was available. "It hurts slightly less than the removal, and not for as long. And in the case of tongues, definately worth it. But we had been without tongues for several months, the wounds were old and scarred over. You won't have any scar tissue to regenerate through, so it probably won't hurt as much." The wildelf is trying to be comforting, but isn't necessarily very good at it.

Lakeside

Taking the ring off might not remove the shell; that aspect of the ring's effect is not my decision. It might be a permanent mutation, though quite a beneficial one. Sure, he's not as attractive, but it's definately tougher than his skin was.

If he does take both off and put them both on again, then the result will be the following.
Truggalump's Amulet: 17
Riverside Ring: 7

Reinholdt may find himself with a set of butterfly wings (Amulet), though since he can fly anyway they aren't as useful as intended, and also his eyebrows get incredibly thick and bushy (Ring). The latter effect probably isn't as obvious.
