Brandon looks quite frustrated. After a moment of helpless dithering, he quietly tells Talsarios, "Ask him if this is the only way to the King. Tell him you're afraid of the dark and would prefer a better-lit path to the King. And also ask him how many goblins there still are. A cook would know."

After saying that, quietly as he can, he starts to look for large wooden articles he can maneuver to the top of the stairs, where they may be rolled or thrown down on any goblin attackers.

Roland, how close is the abbatoir to the top of the stairs? And the abbatoir is a different room than the one with the pantry and fireplace, right?

Are there large barrels and tables in either room? The barrels are ideal for rolling down the stairs, and a big table would make an ideal barricade.
