After all Fade didn't even touched him and wonders what he is telling. But since he didn't make any move Fade seems to need to act. The shadow version of Fade melts and starts to slide under Thendir forming a hole under him in which he may fall. If he does he will fall for a short time and then land somewhere outside the Inn.
