Thunt doesn't like being called out on poor homebrew, either. That's why he took the Finger Horror stats down.
Basically his opinion is that statting up the stuff he uses in Goblins is extra work, which he does for the benefit of his fans. He doesn't like having it thrown back at him with "Wrong" stamped on it.

So really, Goblins is D&D like, not actually D&D based. If he had a dedicated DM to run the numbers and such, his homebrew would improve, but given that he does all the writing and art himself, it's an acceptable hit to suspension of disbelief.

There's a trope about this somewhere. You can have Kid Awesome beat Emperor Doomface at a game of Poker to decide the fate of Mars, but don't have him win with two pair against a straight flush.
