I find tablets suck for vector art anyway. I always take my mouse, bust down the sensitivity to something quite low and vector with that. It's mostly down to personal skill (and preference). I genuinely like both styles of art for different reasons and I'm fairly proficient at both.
Uni/School/Life? I find that's normally what happens. Lack of new pony can also kill it. Happened with the Megatokyo fanart forum. When Fred was updating the comic heaps there were a lot of us doing stuff, when it died off, so did we. Only two or three people still doing stuff there now.edit/MergePost: This thread has really slowed down. Where are Bakuel and the druid droid? Noctemwolf? flyingchicken? Thanqol? Where'd you all disappear to?
I'd redraw the lamp...And redo all the lineart. A) You want it consistent, B) you want varying line thickness in the lamp post and whatnot, don't use shapes unless as a base, C) Your lines have basically no thickness variation and are far too light (in my opinion at least.
The background is really nice though, quite in line with the style of the show, so good work on that one.
