A quick flashlight spell, and a beam of light shone from his horn. He looked all over the alleyway, searching for anything (or anypony) suspicious-looking. "Hello? Who goes there?" he called out. Two of his daggers glowed in his magical grip, but he kept his weapons sheathed for now.

The darkness where his flash horn didn't reach, as in, deeper into the dark alley, he would catch a half second glimpse of movement and an accompanying scuffle. Or was there movement at all? The mind does like to play tricks once in a while. It was a blink or miss it thing that might make one question it. Etc. Ya get the point. ;D
