I was just pulling your leg a little, it actually made sense with a second readthrough.

You found some ants and promptly stole the precious beetle they were carrying. After refusing to return their treasure to them, a few larger ants have gathered around you. They look pretty ticked off.

And they are red ants to boot! Those are more dangerous than the black ones! Munch beetle, and let's see if there's any useful power to be had there...
