Stephanie hadn't woken up. She was up and moving, refreshed and calm. She was eating her afternoon breakfast with a serene calm. But she still felt asleep, drifting, distant. She was smiling faintly and was completely quiet. She was already planning this evening's trip.

She didn't feel like she'd woken up. There had been no transition out of her dream. She still felt bathed in that cool blue light, as rested and relaxed as if she was still asleep. Like she was sleepwalking with her entire mind awake and aware.

Tonight she earned her keep.
