Well, in that case, we should swim up to the surface and get another breath of air before we do anything else.

Some thoughts to consider:

1) We jumped into the lake and sank.
2) This means we cannot float.
3) Which means we probably cannot swim very well.
4) Unless we are near a lake bed slope, we cannot climb out.

This leaves us with the sole option:

* Eat a fish so that we can breathe underwater.

While I'm reluctant to lose our fire ability, it is no use to us right now and it will be no use at all if we're dead.

The lake may be home to amphibious creatures, allowing us to breathe again on land.

If it's true we retain traits from previous forms, then we may still have the ability, after nomming a fishy, to breathe on land and water.
