Who, my mum? And what does this have to do with my childhood?

From the caption I'd have to guess that it was your mother despite her not looking old enough to be your mother when I first saw the photo before reading the caption. Generally raising a child to adulthood takes a fair bit out of a woman, even women who were young when they gave birth. The more troublesome a child is the more there's stress about, and stress does an some effect upon aging.

I even found some wild currant bushes tangles growing in the swampy area to the west below the fields which I've made into a personal project to try to trim and grow into something resembling proper bushes. It's a bit tricky, because the area is completely flooded whenever the water level is high, like it was this summer.

Nifty. I wish you luck with that. Any of them young enough to try transplanting?
