The grenade “explodes” and the thug falls back yelling. He rolls and moans on the ground.

However, as Adam makes a quick headcount, he finds only one of them is dead. The others are injured, but they will eventually get back up.

Deciding on an expeditious retreat, he spins around to get out of the forest, only to find another thug behind him, gun drawn and lined up to his forehead.

Click. Bang. Dead.

The illusion falls away like mist, and the bloody man stands in its place. He looks over Adam’s shoulder with feigned interest. “Nicely done, but next time just create an illusion of a gun. They’ll be expecting it and less likely to not believe in its place in reality. Illusions are useful, but they can only take you so far, at least at this careful juncture.
