The guard shrugs and lets you pass. Once more the gate is opened and you are let into the docks.

The scene is indeed fairly grim. The late afternoon sun casts its light on deserted roads and empty piers. Very few individuals are seen walking about with lowered heads and moving quickly to their destination. Windows are closed and shuttered and there is no guardsman in sight.

What you do see though, almost 500 meters from the gate, near pier 4, the two men and their cargo having been stopped by a group of 6 hobgoblins.
