"Gah! Let go of me! Let go! Let go!" Gerri tries to escape, but isn't very strong (she's a sixteen year old the doesn't exercise much) and therefore has next to no chance of escaping.

This is bad for Gerri, and possibly Rick if this Grimling decides to make this a proper hostage situation.

Random Park

Kate Kyland just so happens to walk by when the ritual reaches it's climax. What a coincidence that one of the people that knows the most about the parks would happen to walk in on a ritual in a park. She watches the shapes appear with curiosity... and doesn't think to hide or whatnot, so either the summoned birds or the summoner himself can see her.
