If it really did go that long, I don't see anything stopping ThePhantasm from just copy/pasting into a new thread.

The only thing would be the mods locking the thread; at that point, you can't edit or quote any of the posts, which means you loose all the link meat-data (happened to me in MitD thread 3). But yes, lack of updates for six weeks would not automatically lock the thread. Not that I expect it to happen to this thread.

Question: Does this mean this thread will be exempted from the usual rules against thread necromancy, in the event you don't make additional comments for six weeks?

[Not-a-mod]Probably not. But all Phantasm needs to do is PM a mod if the thread falls into a necromancy-worthy lull. That's what I was told to do if something like that happened to the MitD thread. The mods then would bump it themselves.
