That is exactly the scene that appeared in my head when I saw those thugs surround Daring for that last ring. And... okay Google is sleeping on the job so I can't find a good image of the actual scene from Last Crusade, but I want to say the two "bosses" had similar looks.

As I think about which characters were important, we could probably make it work with just Dash and Twilight, the two fans of Daring Do. Then they can go home and tell their friends about the adventure with the real Daring Do and their friends can be all like "Uh huh... sure. Cool Story Bro." and the secret is safe.
I think there was an element of more team work that got lost in the development process somewhere and so they end up only there for the big fight at the end.
