If that beetle near Shaz is still alive when his initiative comes up (he acts on initiative 10), he'll perform a full attack.

If it's already dead, he'll remain guard over Grillin & Alyssa, planting his spear against a charge and you can use his first spear attack as his readied attack if needed, and his tail attack as his attack of opportunity if one of them passes all the way through a threatened square while closing to melee (but increase attack roll by +2 and physical damage by 8 from what's mentioned below when used as ATOO since it's being used as a primary attack in that situation).
