I'm completely new to FFRP, though not to RPing in general. I've been browsing the Nexus threads and think it might be fun to join...

What should I do? Is there any particular convention for new characters, or can I just say "Guy X walks into the tavern" and let it roll from there?

Also, which thread should I start in?
