So, since I've said my character 'played' these 'Image Comics' () when she was younger, what would she know about the heroes everyone became (and their future team)?

Seeing how Grif and I have chatted briefly about this little side plot, I can actually field this one.

Heartflight actually would not recognize these heroes at all, either from 'Image Comics' or any comics she's read. And to the best of her knowledge, Beast Colt never teamed up with heroes like these.

Amish is essentially correct. This is more or less done intentionally so that people are free to create the superheroes they want, as well as to accommodate the fact that this is an unusual "comicbook" to begin with.

The "Sandtastic Avenger" isn't your run-of-the-mill DC/Marvel hero, and doesn't quite exist in comicbooks in actual Equestria. In this continuity/dimension though, he'd be something akin to DCAU Superman during his animated series run. (Not the JL version.)
