You are correct. Stop comparing them, then.

If it makes you feel better, a more equivalent comparison would be polyamorous or incestuous characters, although I do not know if you personally would find that distasteful.

If it makes you feel better, a much more equivalent comparison would be heterosexual characters.

If I was reading a webcomic that suddenly pointed out anti-LGBT views of the author, I would do the same thing. Inform the author that I would no longer be supporting them, and ask my friends to do the same.

That's not at all the same, though. It's the opposite.
