Yeeesh, those bite marks looks nasty. I guess that's what you get when you take a canine, make it big enough for a man to ride and have it bite someone. Anadyne seems pretty close to snapping, and it's only going to get worse when she finds out what Toma did to the passage.
As far as the door goes, I really wouldn't expect any part of it, or the walls around it, not to be pymary-proofed either. That would be a big oversight, wouldn't it?
Regarding heroism, I'd say Duane certainly qualifies. He tends to strive to do the right thing - it's just that his idea of the right thing is coloured by the culture he was raised in and is still fiercely loyal to. He's not dissimilar to Toma this way.
