I actually disagree. The penalty from Heavy Caliber is practically nonexistent on the amprex. While i want to love Hammershot, unless you're getting red crits, you're likely better off using another damage mod.

I'm still a forma or two shy of my final build, but it's something like:
Heavy Caliber, Serration, Vital Sense, Point Strike
2X elemental mods for viral damage, Shred, and Split Chamber.

Thanks to Red Veil, I have access to large ammo restores, so I tend to avoid the ammo mutations.
