Are you kidding? It was awesome.
Agatha hasn't ever been loved by anyone enough for them to hate her. She slowly gets out of the hospital bed and checks herself to make sure all physical signs of the demonic binding are gone. Arms raised above her head, she indolently stretches. Then she walks over to Carrie's chair and leans down over her. Like something out of an opera. Even if you're more of a "Breeches Role" mezzo than a proper heroine.
Carrie really should find someone who will compliment her femininity. Bullying is bad.

... I'd prefer to keep that on a need-to-know-basis, but I'm related by blood to a few morally dubious or utterly evil people. They aren't here anymore, and they don't hold sway over me.
She explains somewhat furtively.
I don't wish to tell because I just want people to judge me for who I am, not who my blood comes from
[Entryway]

That shouldn't be a problem. Not that any of us will judge you, but certainly not for your family.
Oh, but if only she knew...

When I arrived at VIGIL the situation was already grim. The lesser demons were being led by a fully fledged lord with some sort of enchantment that protected him from most kinds of damage. I moved into the courtyard and met up with Wenomir. The demons released some kind of gas agent that kept the other members from fighting. Because I was able to fight, I went back out to buy time for the members to evacuate and perform asset denial. I managed to kill the first demon lord and many of it's underlings after the second lord arrived with reinforcements. At that point KR called out for everyone to leave. With my role in the plan complete and the remainder of VIGIL dealt with I took my leave in order to come back here and prepare for a possible continuation of events here.

From what I could tell, it wasn't just a simple matter of demons breaking through the barrier between worlds to rampage, they were working for something. What they were there for remains unclear though. I've already set Ross to developing ways to prevent the base from being easily destroyed by the demons abilities that I was able to observe. That's just about it.

Thank you. I have an ROTC commission from the Spinward Middle Colony Academy on Javrik 4, but there was a vacancy issue and so I couldn't start at Lieutennant. But I couldn't be assigned to just any random duty, so they moved me to Specialist... then the war started.

She has a glare that speaks of paperwork, red tape, and a great deal of frustration.

And I would just as soon stay, if you'll have me. I don't tend to get along with religious types.

Hmmm... Thank you Grant. I trust you'll continue to display your initiative and leadership if these demons go after the civilians of the Nexus. Tobias stands up and paces around the firepit before contemplatively removing one of the red-hot bars and dropping it onto a bare patch of dirt.

Very well then. The offer still stands, should you wish to take a quick trip just to ask questions of those better able to answer them than myself. I'll gladly welcome you into our ranks, but I must inform you that the degree of HALO's paramilitarism depends solely on the collective interest of the members. We do have the facilities and equipment to support combined arms tactics, but many of our members at the moment trend towards individual vigilantism. Grant and my sister, both experienced in their own worlds' armed forces, being the notable exceptions who actually prefer the structure of military life. I had thought of reaching out to the Union, to perhaps get some cooperation going, but... Ah, I shouldn't bore you with that sort of thing. Just be aware that HALO is significantly less organized than whatever group you were formerly with. And you'll find everyday life in the base to be much more lax than aboard your ship. He smiles good-naturedly. Which you may consider more positive than a negative. You don't have to hot rack or stand middle watch, at the very least. Anything else I can do for you, before Grant takes you off to get settled in?

And the first bit of dream after she was taken, if Soteira is thinking of that. "...Did you want anything? I mean, it's pretty well stocked. Though I imagine you'd know that better than I do, really, sorry."

Actually, I rarely spend time in HALO. Soteira's wings flutter as she smiles. Anything alcoholic to drink in there, or is it a "dry" fridge? Presumably only a few fridges in the various kitchens are stocked for adults. All those stupid kids running around.
