The captain clapped Zuberi on the shoulder, still giddy at the sight of the Irespan. The two gold clasps on his long braided mustache jangled as he spoke. "Ah, you're a good man, Zuberi. And a half decent rigger."

His hands shot up at once, "Only a joke! You're the hardest working man on this ship, including me. I know what the answer is, but you should give a thought to signing on for another voyage. You're still learning, but I'll pay you as much as an able sailor."

Ten gold crowns a week was good pay, enough to tempt most men with few prospects, but Thalin could read it on Zuberi's face that he wouldn't be interested.

"Ah! Stow those lines there. Neatly, Mr. Zuberi. And that will be all." With his final order, he extends his arm for a firm handshake.
