Personally the pain isn't what I remember from having my wisdom teeth taken out. It's the smell from when the dentist sawed the bottom teeth in half to remove them.

I've had one wisdom tooth out, because it was impacted, and yes, they had to chop it in half to do it. Don't remember any odd smell, though...
