Declan knew he needed to be focused, but, while that was probably going to be easy enough once engaged in actual battle, right now it was somewhat difficut: part of him wondered why the hell Sean had chosen right that day to follow him - bring Beth, to boot - and then there was also the prospect of "talking about what happened" to the rest of the team, which didn't particularly thrill him - he knew very well none of them, except maybe for Wilson, would understand.

So, instead of uttering something along the lines of "Let's show Leopold who's the boss here", he voiced his readiness to begin the assault with a slightly absentminded "Mmh", and whatever his guts were trying to tell him went unheeded.
