While it is unknown who orriginally wrote the song, it's often attributed too General Kia Dev, a famous hero of CurStone. The Saphire Phoenix Productions, led by Allister Rilling bought the rights to her life story and produced a musical "The Smiling Soldier". This brought "A good day to die" to the wider public. General Dev herself,now retired, refuses to comment on show.
